How to unlock the Weapon of Zeus achievement in Halo Wars: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

Make sure to get the mandatory skirmish matches out of the way first, playing with all leaders, on all maps, etc. That will take at least 18 games, and will help a lot towards this and the other skirmish # achievements. Once you've done all the other Skirmish achievements, here's my recommended method for quickly getting the rest done!

Time to get 100 Skirmish Matches played:
Approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes.

General details:
After much testing, I've found that the Warthog Rush is faster than the Covenant Prophet Rush.
I have not done this at all Coop, but I expect Coop would be slightly faster as then you are only waiting for the loading screens and alternating Resigning.

Solo times:
The Warthog Rush VERY consistently takes about 93-95 seconds(including loading screens).
The Prophet Rush takes anywhere from 90-120+ seconds(including loading screens).

Loading screens are approximately 22 seconds total.

SKULL requirement:
The Warthog Rush does require the Pain Train skull(obtained in Mission 13 Beachhead)

Why does it work?
The Warthog Rush is consistently faster because you can always eliminate the enemy Warthog without it getting 'lost' on the map and wasting time.

How to do it:
Skirmish Match Setup:
Players: 1v1
Map: Chasms
Game Type: Deathmatch
Difficulty: Easy
AI: Any Human enemy--DO NOT choose Covenant! (They have much stronger bases)

How to do it:
When the match starts, immediately do these two things:
1. Select your base and queue up at least 4 Warthogs.
2. Press cn_start, select SKULLS, press cn_up 3 times, and activate the Pain Train SKULL.
Do the SKULL activation fast because it pauses the game while in the menu.
After that, select all units--cn_LB, and start viewing to the enemy base while pressing cn_X to get your Warthog moving there.
Tell your Warthog to go about 3 Warthog lengths out from the enemy base's spawn point, and then doubleclick cn_LS to make your global rally point there also!
Your Warthog will approach, shoot at the enemy Warthog--tell it to ram the enemy Warthog after it shoots once, then just sit and wait for the match to finish.

If the enemy Warthog doesn't wait for you...
In the rare case that the enemy Warthog decides to collect resources, follow it with your first Warthog(or any convenient Warthog) and blast it to smithereens. It will most likely go for the resources behind to the left and up from the enemy base. In very rare cases it might go into the middle or another direction, but I just watched and followed it.

Wrap-up:
That's all there is to it! It's consistent and faster than the Covenant Prophet Rush which I got annoyed with and experimented looking for something better.

!!! That reminds me of when I had to turn my console to Energy Saver, not Instant On. That was with NFS Hot Rivals, it wouldn't track progress unless the system shut down completely! Perhaps everyone having trouble here has their console set to Instant on and it's not releasing the previous sessions?

Is anyone else having any problems getting the wins to register if you use the skull?

I noticed very consistently if I did not do a hard reset every time I played the game the achievements would not track.

This works really well and I am completing a game (including loading screens, etc.) in around 90 seconds. Thanks for the guide!

I will never understand playing 100 matches and having a friend quit. Just play them or don't.

Ouch. I've been hearing about all sorts of weird achievement not counting progress in HW--that's the first I heard about the skull being a problem here though. Are you not seeing achievement progression do you mean? I'm pretty sure that some of the achievements don't show progress, but it sounds like you're getting progression without the skull, right?

I used the warthog Rush method but I had a minor adjustment that made it much quicker. Instead of doing Skirmish do online! Just set yourself up with an AI opponent, the reason it is faster is when you get done all of your settings are still saved and you can immediately start another match unlike with the Skirmish where you have to reset all of your settings plus skulls will still work!

This is a nice little addition to the Warthog Rush, knocking a crucial few seconds off the grind. Thanks.

Best way to do it. This should be the number 1 guide

I tried this on PC and it only saved the match settings, but not the selected AI or Skulls. I had to re-select both of those each game.

There are two ways to get this achievement quick and easy, one is solo, and one is co-op.

EDIT: The times dont include load times or time setting up the match, only the in game match time.

Solo ~ 80 seconds per match

1v1 Deathmatch on Chasms
Playing as Regret vs. Easy Sgt. Forge
Immediately construct the Temple to spawn Regret, take him straight to the enemy base and use the cleanse beam on the warthog, the building being constructed in the back, then the main structure. Don't do anything with the ghost scout.

Sometimes the warthog will run to the back of the base for supplies, or a cyclops will be created and will sit in front of the base, so if the match isnt ending that is most likely why.

Co-op ~ 10 seconds per match

1v1 on any map, any gametype, and with any leader.
Have the person on the other team resign to get the win.

Was going to post the Co-Op way but you beat me to it. Nice guild +1 :)

I am sure these times are inaccurate even though the co-op time is the fastest. You are not including loading and set-up times.

I didnt include the loading and setup times because the load times change. the times are actual times in the match :)

Ok but an estimation is a good idea or average, just saying you are off not that people will freak out or anything over it. Some people like accuracy.

Using two laptops by myself, it took about 40 seconds to get through an entire cycle of load time plus game. All told, it was around 70 minutes to get all 100 matches done.

I used Reinforcement so the loser could just destroy their base. If I tried to Resign quickly, I would often hit the wrong menu item, wasting time.

Doing this solo, actually a bit quicker to use any unsc leader against any unsc leader on chasms death match. When the match loads queue up a bunch of warthogs, turn on the pain train skill for reduced unit training times, then set global rally point at the other base. Destroy any queued buildings then target the base. Each match lasts about 1 minute. If the enemy warthog isn't in front of the base, it usually moves behind the enemy base toward the rebel base.

33 seconds per game with an X1 and an X1X.
That means 55 minutes for all 100 games. Easily the best option.

This, but use arbiter, and build suicide grunts with pain train skull active
As soon as arbiter built enter rage as its quickest way to get to other side of map, then warp in your suicide grunts and blow up the base in 2 seconds

The co-op/double box method here is by far the best way. You go straight back to the lobby and can instantly start up the next game. It worked like this in the original in private matches too which is how I got that done. So funny that people need to thumbs down a good solution.

If you have a friend with the game who's willing to participate, you can get this done even easier. Set up a game between each other with any settings. The moment the game beings have your friend resign. You don't have to even play any of the game. Just rinse and repeat: ready up in lobby, loading screen, resign.

Prerequisites to make things even faster

- Sugar Cookies Skull - Mission 11 - +50% Hitpoints
- Pain Train Skull - Mission 13 - +50% Faster unit train times

Set Up

Go to Multiplayer > Create Game > Private Game
Game Type: Skirmish
Players: 1v1
Map: Chasms (1v1)
Mode: Deathmatch
Difficulty: Easy

Choose Forge for yourself and Captain Cutter for the AI.

Strategy

- Build 10 Warthogs
- Pause the game and put on skulls if available from campaign
- Send warthog to opposition base
- Place spawn flag at opposition base
- With the 2 first warthogs ram enemy warthog (may of moved behind the base)
- Now simply wait for warthogs to destroy the base

Resetting the game

- Add AI back
- Select Captain Cutter
- Ready Up

- Repeat until 100 wins (should be 70-80 seconds per run and approx 20 sec per lobby)

Hope this helps!

There are two ways to get through a skirmish match in as little time as possible. The first is if playing solo to follow the guide for "Big Al's Scooter" as each game can be completed in under two minutes.

The other way is if playing with a friend to start a match and have your friend quit out giving you the win. This is much quicker than the solo method but obviously requires a second person.

The third option is to play Skirmish matches as normal. Either way, as long as you win 100 matches, the achievement is yours.

How I did it: I set a mode where they initially give a lot of money, set a queue for creating boars and a collection point at the enemy’s base. In this mode, the boars will already be maximally improved, which will allow them to demolish everything, including the base. I also chose the smallest card 1 by 1. This fight lasts no more than 5 minutes, which is clearly faster than a full game
