How to unlock the Pull Hard, Pull Deep achievement in Halo Wars: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

I honestly had no idea what the game mode involved, but I simply played against an easy AI, I had Captain Cutter.
I just built my base up really fast, two supply pads, then a reactor, and kept building up my base. I won the game without even trying in what felt like less than 5 minutes!

I think against an easy AI you can do just about anything useful and you'll win quickly as the AI doesn't do much.

EDIT: Thanks to Dibbs93, here's what Tug of War is about:
"""taken from halo wikia 'Tug of War is a game mode in Halo Wars that is won by having a stronger army than your opponent. Defeating enemies is essential, but success is determined by a combination of the army, buildings, and resources left standing in the end. It can be obtained as a game mode by downloading it from Xbox Live.'

so basically you need to make sure your army strength is always higher than your opponents"""

Did you have to destroy their base or just build yours?

I won with building up my base only, not destroying theirs. I may have built another base too while I was at it, it happened so fast I couldn't believe it!

I started a Tug of War game twice now, and right after the game started i instanly have lower points than the AI, this makes it impossible for this one.

Did you have it on Easy?

I just tested it about 7 times.. Cutter vs. Easy Arbiter on Blood Gulch, I just built up stuff and won every time easily. I spammed warthogs a few times and took over other bases.

The 'happy' meter is kind of odd. I think it's actually only showing your stats somehow in a way, if that makes sense. The higher the number to the right and the happy face, you're winning. The lower the number on the right at the happy face, you're losing. I was misreading it a lot.

Yes, thats what it is all about. The "happy meter" is on the left side ride at the beginning. Guess i'll try that somehow another day.

That is really weird! Are you saying it's almost all the way too the left at the start? If so, that definitely sounds like a glitch. I tried it against Cutter, as Cutter, and against the Arbiter as Cutter, and both worked alright. Hmm...

In case it helps anyone in the future, this didn’t pop the first time for me, so the next time I tried, I built a second warthog as the first thing I did, then carried on building the base as normal.
It popped that time, so the extra warthog might help as a means of making your army stronger than the opponent from the beginning.

I'll be honest, I found this easier by playing as the Covenant, against any UNSC.
Build a Temple first thing and by having your leader spawn in, you automatically get 6-7 points in your favour. Then you can use that headstart.

Yes, i am doing it on easy, but just like i said, before even the game starts, i have 2 points less than my enemy, wrecking the whole game.

I did find it glitch a couple times... I remember Halo Wars and Halo Wars DE having a silly glitch where when you won the game sometimes it would say you lost...
I had that the first couple times, before I realized the happiness meter was just showing myself. If the meter moves to the right, then you're doing good.
Finally, on maybe the third try I remembered it actually showing Victory instead of Defeat when it went to the right. There's something weird with it not tracking the victory properly I think?

This is SO easy and you don't need to do another game.

Play a public game with a friend in a lobby with you.

Public Game
Skirmish
Players 1v1
Map: Any you want
Mode: Tug of War
Difficulty Easy.

As soon as you start the game, have your friend resign. You'll get the achievement. Don't forget to return the favour to your friend!

1v1
Mode: tug of war
Difficulty: easy
Map: doesn’t matter
Player: carter
AI: doesn’t matter

How it works: the player is the right as you look at the screen and the AI is the left.
You will the right hand side face so pay attention to that and make sure the left side doesn’t have more points then the right otherwise you won’t get the achievement.

Build a reactor and supply pads from the start and a another warthog and collect supply’s on around the map. Thats should put you in the lead straight away. Now all you got to do is maintain that. Build heaps of warthogs and research warthog gunner and just build supply pads. Once you have enough warthogs start attacking the enemy base until you destroy it and win.

Also if you want to make things even easier put on skulls that only help you as soon as the game starts.

Catch
Sugar cookies
Boomstick
Pain train
Bountiful harvest
Emperor

This achievement can be tricky but play a 1v1 match on Easy with Forge and select the enemy as Cutter. Straight away, build supply pads and a reactor. Build a few Cyclops and Warthogs and make sure you're upgrading the Warthogs to the chain gun variant. Once you have a few units on the ground, and if there are any bases or reactors on the map, use your units to take these out while also focusing on producing more units from either a barracks or vehicle depot.

If there are no bandits/sentinels on the map, focus on attacking Cutter’s base/units, making sure not to lose too many of your own. By this stage you should be very close to winning if not having already won.

The hardest part of this achievement is to not trail (i.e. not having the slider in the top corner move back towards your enemy). So long as you play aggressively, constantly producing units and playing on Easy, this achievement shouldn’t prove too difficult.
