How to unlock the Wall of Recognition achievement in Halo Wars: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide
In co-op, you might have to get gold on the same difficulty like back on the Xbox 360. Also, if you play co-op you need to complete every mission in co-op for your gold medals to unlock this achievement. Solo and co-op count separate for medals. Co-op can be easier if only one person controls units and the other controls bases and revivable units like Forge or Spartans. Transferring all expendable units to one player supposedly circumvents the combat bonus allowing for a x10 combat bonus even with units lost. I have not personally confirmed this (due to no one on my 200+ friends list playing HW:DE), thus my speculative grammar.
Gold medals are earned by a combination of 3 factors.
1. Completing Objectives
2. Multipliers
3. Skull Multiplier
Completing Objectives
Cannot be missed as they are required to complete the mission.
Secondary Objectives
These are optional, so they can be missed. Make sure you complete all of the secondary objectives as they can prevent you from getting gold when the multipliers are factored.
The max multiplier is x10. Kill enemy units and try not to lose any of your units. Every unit you lose will reduce the combat bonus.
Time Bonus
The max multiplier is x5. Every mission has a par time. If you complete the mission before your timer enters the par time you will get the max multiplier. Refer to the provide achievement link for list of all par times for each mission. Par times are the same no matter what difficulty.
To recap, just remember these simple rules.
1. Try to not lose any units.
2. Complete the mission as fast as you can.
3. Complete all secondary/optional objectives. This will get tricky when trying to get the time bonus on a few missions.
4. Only use skulls if you need the extra points. Otherwise don’t use them at all.
To get a complete record of your gold medals progress on every difficulty go to "Service Record" in "Options and Extras".
Do remember all games have glitches and/or hidden rules.
1. Play solo, on easy. Back on the Xbox 360 this was the best way to try and get glitched achievements to unlock. If the achievement still does not unlock, ratchet up the difficulty and go for gold medals again. I personally had to do this on the original Halo Wars.
2. Since HW:DE is a Play Anywhere title, if you have a Windows 10 PC that can handle HW:DE, some people have been having success getting glitched achievements to unlock on their computer.
I actually noticed precisely when it stopped tracking. At that point I had 2 missions left to get gold on. Mission 8 Ander's signal, and Mission 11 Cleansing. When I got gold on Ander's signal, the progress didn't go up. Then I played Mission 11 Cleansing, and received the gold medal and the progress went up from 86% to 93%.
Suffice to say, that should be pretty clear evidence that Ander's Signal is the problem level. I played that one twice more on the Xbox One. No luck. Played it once on PC. No luck. Played another level on PC. No luck.
Guess the last choice is to do what SMIZZ BEATZ did and just try to get gold on the heroic par time levels, and hope it unlocks.
I’ve had issues with anywhere from the skulls achievement (even though I completed ‘Halo Historian’) to simply getting the scarab achievement. Very frustrating.
At the end of each mission you will be given a medal based on your performance. The score is determined on how well you managed your units (the key being to lose as few as possible), the time taken to complete the mission (the faster, the better) and the optional objectives completed. Thus, the key is to beat each mission under par time, losing as few units as possible and completing all objectives.
Unlike other Halo titles, difficulty doesn’t factor so you can obtain gold medals on easy without penalty. You can also play on different difficulties and still unlock the achievement i.e. you can earn gold on half the missions playing on easy and the rest playing on normal or heroic.
Most of these will likely come naturally as you play through on easy/normal, if however you are struggling on any particular mission, activating the negative skulls will give you an added bonus and can be done so on easy difficulty without adding too much of a challenge.
The score for gold medals are as follows:
- Mission 01: 27,000
- Mission 02: 70,000
- Mission 03: 45,000
- Mission 04: 50,000
- Mission 05: 40,000
- Mission 06: 45,000
- Mission 07: 32,000
- Mission 08: 30,000
- Mission 09: 35,000
- Mission 10: 55,000
- Mission 11: 30,000
- Mission 12: 32,000
- Mission 13: 40,000
- Mission 14: 30,000
- Mission 15: 30,000
