After the first cargo ship is destroyed, you will get the option to create a base. It is north-west to the starting spot where the civilians come out of.
A little north of the base on the west is a skyscraper. There should be a little black switch next to it. Activate the switch by pressing A on it, then Adam will come out of the building.
Protect Adam as he walks to Cargo 2. Once he gets into it, the achievement will unlock.

You have to click A on the black box not X. After you click A then choose the tran thing. Then just protect him until he gets to the cargo.

In the south of the map near where you begin there are some skyscrapers slightly to the north. Click on the control panel near it to release Adam, protect him until he gets to Ship 2 and when he boards this achievement will unlock. The panel is near the Black Box.
