Token shards are a new type of token that is attached to cards in Endless mode, which you can download for free from the main menu.
These tokens work in the same way as the main game. The are attached to event and item cards and come with their own challenge to unlock. This can vary from 'kill 200 skeletons with this item' to fulfilling a certain set of dialogue options.
One tip on the event cards is to watch if the token is off the card and up for grabs, if you make a certain decision/action then it goes back onto the card, try a different approach next time. Also make sure to pick cards that have shards at the start of each adventure.
