If you knock down an opponent (when they are highlighted white and you can finish them off with LT), Veles will often jump on them and finish them for you.
This will come in time but a way to speed this up is to equip the Executioner's Axe. The finisher on this, which charges fairly quickly, puts opponents in a knocked down state. This will give Veles more opponents to perform on.
