On each level of the Mapmaker DLC adventure is the Statue of a Priest card.
The card's location is shown to you at the beginning of every level, so you will always know where it is.
Any time you reach the card, you can "pray for mercy" for 20 gold. You must do this five times during a run - 100 gold total - to free the five pirate spirits. After freeing all five, beat the adventure as normal to unlock the gold token.
Earning 100 gold should not be difficult. Before you begin the adventure - when choosing your card pool - filter for cards that reward gold and include them. For an especially easy time, unlock and choose the Goblin Town platinum encounter card. Stepping on it rewards you with 4 Gold Gain cards with no penalty. It's not uncommon to earn 50+ gold from stepping on this card alone.
