How to unlock the Champion achievement in Hand of Fate - Definitive Guide
Ok the other solutions are quite good, and helped me a lot, but i just want to add some helpfull tips on what to do and how i finaly got it today.
I will walk you trough in a few steps:
You NEED: Four basic enemies (Dust, Skull, Scale, Plague), Mages, Lich, Lava Golem, Minotaur
You DONT NEED: Hell, Goblins, Kraken, Bosses
I think playing the King of Plague mission is way easier then endless, because of a few reasons:
For the four basic enemies:
Winding Trail, Wifes Fury (help the woman), Tavern Wager (decline the wager), The Lizard Dome, Ambush, Dead Kings Hall(attack), Deadmans Gorge, Desert Cult(Decline), Summoned, Cave Rescue(attack)
For Mages:
Nothing special that only triggers mages, but entering shops will often lead to an ambush which is often mages, so i added a extra shop, Tavern wager (decline wager) also can get mages, over all mages arent to rare and you will most likely get them while just doing every fight possible.
For Liches:
Now that is important, i didnt find a way to reliably get a Lich in an encounter, so for those i added the"Battle Practice" card, (earned after completing all aprentice encounters), it lets you choose every kind of enemie, so if you already got a Lich somehow, you can choose another enemy type, but you need this encounter to guarantee a Lich encounter, if you will find the card.
For Lava Golems:
They are kinda random, too, as you can get them in standard encounters sometime, but what i found most reliable, was the "Battle at Brooktop" and "Summoned" cards, but like i said, you can also get Lava Golems at normal encounters by chance. Also, if you havent finished the Soul Gem quest line, the "Soul Gem II" encounter will guarantee you Golems, also the red Hell cards often have Golems, if you havent completed them already.
For Minotaurs:
Add the White "Minotaur Card", as it will guarantee a Minotaur, but you can also get normal Minotaurs in standart encounters by chance, if you fought a lot during that session and, most other monster cards were already used. I wasnt able to get a Minotaur from the "Battle Practice" card, so White Minotaur helps a lot.
I was worried because i got the "Wrath of the old Gods" blessing, halfway through my session, which will kill a random enemy, each fight, and other people stated, that enemies killed by that blessing wont count.
BUT my last enemy type left, was the minotaur, and the blessing killed it instantly after the fight began, which still gave me the achievement, so it seems like, kills by the blessing, will still count as a kill for that enemy type.
Also i didnt, quit and restart the game, so i dont know, if it will work if you quit and restart, or if it will reset like the deflect 100 arrow achievement.
EDIT: "Shulamm" confirmed, that restarting the game, resets your progress, so dont do that while going for this achievement.
If something is unclear, please feel free to ask, and please add a comment if you rate negative !
I will walk you trough in a few steps:
What you need to kill
First of all i can now confirm through a lot of sessions without getting the achievement, what is needed and what isnt. You NEED: Four basic enemies (Dust, Skull, Scale, Plague), Mages, Lich, Lava Golem, Minotaur
You DONT NEED: Hell, Goblins, Kraken, Bosses
What to play
I played King of Plague on Adventurer, Apprentice doesnt allow you get this achievement, and Warlord also works, but is harder, so i would recommend to stick with adventurer.I think playing the King of Plague mission is way easier then endless, because of a few reasons:
- You wont get a new curse each floor.
- You can choose the cards in your deck. (!!!)
- It has the "winding trail" trap cards already in the deck, which will allow more fights.
- It is quite short, so you can just restart if something messes up your game or you die.
- Its still long enough to get all the enemy types, with a little luck and the right cards.
What cards will you need for this ?
I added mostly fights as you will have to increase the chances of fighting all the mentioned enemies. And you will need a few special cards to get certain enemies. For the four basic enemies:
Winding Trail, Wifes Fury (help the woman), Tavern Wager (decline the wager), The Lizard Dome, Ambush, Dead Kings Hall(attack), Deadmans Gorge, Desert Cult(Decline), Summoned, Cave Rescue(attack)

I believe you are mistaken about "will of the gods" blessing, it marks an enemy and if they die first they drop 5 gold. "Wrath of the Old Gods" blessing will kill one enemy at the start of a combat.

NEW SOLUTION, ALL CREDIT GOES TO Steamboat Wi11y
Ok after many hours and tears i finally got this to pop and i can confirm the bug is fixed.
I killed the white minotaur with Blood Crescent's ability and it was the only minotaur killed.
I killed:
Goblins (already completed the goblin king's halls)
Plague
Dust
Minotaur (White Minotaur Encounter)
Scale
Skull
Hellbeast (doubt this was required)
Lava Golem
Lich
Mages (popped after killing)
I did this in endless mode, on adventurer. Previously tested on Apprentice mode, no achievement.
I would suggest endless mode if you have completed the goblin king series and were on the White minotaur encounter as well as descend into the underworld, which gives you a series of battles that have lava golems and a lich in the last battle.
I also did not quit, or dashboard, i only killed the minotaur with the weapons ability (LB instant kill costs HP) but killed several enemies with the instant ground finisher including all the scales i fought. Got it after just 6 floors of endless due to the new encounter cards. Also had 0 (zero, none, nada) boss encounters, meaning i did not kill any Jacks, Queens, or Kings.

ORIGINAL SOLUTION (BEFORE UPDATE) In order to unlock this you need to kill at least one of each enemy below in one single game.
Dust (Humans)
Plague (Rats)
Skulls (skeletons)
Scales (Lizardmen)
Make sure to choose different types of enemies if ever given the choice, also play a story mode game further down the tree for more fighting opportunities.
Some people claim they are not popping this achievement, my exact settings were as follows...
Queen of scales
I fought Dust, Plague, skulls, scales, mages, and one lava golem...the achievement popped after I killed scales.
UPDATE - THIS ACHIEVEMENT MAY BE BUGGY-GLITCHY ..... note that I also killed mages and a lava golem when mine popped, I killed a scale last. http://steamcommunity.com/app/266510/discussions/0/617329150...
Any questions, comments, concerns, please post below. Thank you..

Does this only pop once you finish the current session by beating the boss?
I definitely beat one of each yesterday, also mages, a golem and a Lich. Only thing I didn't defeat was a minotaur.
I died before I reached the boss though and I didn't get the achievement?

That's odd because mine popped after I killed the scales (last one needed for me) after the fight (scale fight)

Confirming the kills needed to unlock the champion achievement... when it says all it means all... right - Skulls - Rust - Plague - Scales - Mage - Goblin - Lava Golem - Liche and finally the Minotaur... all have to fall... it doesnt matter if they dont die by your hand as my minotaur fell to a trap though they all must go in one session so obviously through endless mode... happy hunting 😉

Did you quit out at any point? Interested to know whether I would be able to reload the game in the event of really bad luck!
By BioFire64 on 11 Feb 2016 00:42
I don't think you can quit out. I had a long endless game where I quit after like 1 hour. I wound up getting every enemy in that game, even the Kraken too, but no achievement.
No surprise though, as other achievements (100 projectiles) need to be in a single game session without exiting the game

This achievement depends mostly on luck so this is more about general tips than an actual walk through.
Firstly, the enemies you need to kill are Dust, Bones, Plague, Scales, Mages, Lich, Lava Golems, and finally the Minotaur. Bosses, Goblins and the Kraken don't count (although when I earned this achievement I killed a Goblin and the Kraken). Unless you managed to save the encounter cards for the last three enemies in the list, you're gonna have to go for this on Endless mode, which means by the time you get to actually fight the last three enemies on the list, you will have almost certainly fought the first 4 enemies on the list multiple times, so the only enemies you need to look out for are the Lich, Lava Golems, and the Minotaur; I call theses three enemies the rare enemies. Outside of the encounter card for the Minotaur, the only time I ever got to fight him was by landing on the battle practice encounter card and choosing to fight the Minotaur (Battle practice is unlocked by playing the first story level on apprentice difficulty and completing the three Apprentice encounter cards). So assuming you use the battle practice card to knock out the Minotaur, that means you only need to get to the 12th level of endless mode to have a shot at the Lich, with the Lava Golem unlocking as a possible enemy at level 9 or 10.
In order to set myself up, I mad multiple trips to shops to get items, and if I landed on a card that could benefit me, I dash-boarded to get the best results for the first 3 or 4 levels. Once I got to level five I stopped dashbording and lived with whatever happened so I could start banking the first 5 enemies on the list.
First thing to be on the lookout for is the battle practice card. Every time you land on the card that allows you to move on to the next level, the rest of the cards on the board are revealed. Be on the lookout for the battle practice card and if it's revealed go for it and choose to fight the Minotaur. This will most likely be the first of the three rare enemies you encounter.
The two most important pieces of equipment for me was the Blood Crescent sword and the Depth of Night armor. The weapon was important because not only did battles become easier when I could kill anyone on the floor instantly, but I could also use the weapon ability to auto kill any bosses that showed up during tough fights. I also used the auto kill on all three of the rare enemies. The armor is especially important in making the Lich and the Golem appear. Every time you clear a level the dealer shows you the new enemies he adds to the deck. I know the Lich gets added at Level 12, but i'm not sure when the Lava Golem gets added. I believe its around level 9 or 10, so when you get there be on the lookout for him to get added to the deck. When that happens, use the armor to redraw enemies every time until the lava Golem shows up, even if you have an easy fight activate the redraw. Do the same thing when you get to level 12 to force the Lich to show up. The more enemies you draw and discard, the more likely these guys will eventually appear.
The rest of your equipment is largely personal preference. I liked to use the Skeleton King's shield because it allowed me to kill skeletons with on shield bash. I also really liked the mages gloves. I would often need to choose between killing an enemy on the ground or countering an incoming enemy, but the gloves would allow me the kill the downed enemy and the missiles would hit the incoming enemy stopping his attack. The Blood Crescent sword, Skeleton King Shield and Mages Gloves allowed me to quickly go through most fights i faced, even at the higher levels. Any time I drew two boss cards i would insta-kill one of the bosses making the battle much easier. I spent the rest of my money on any rings that came up that I thought could help. If there was no rings I would spend everything I had on food.
Short Summary:
1-Always be on the lookout for the Battle Practice encounter and use it to fight The Minotaur
2-Try to obtain the Depth of Night armor by level 8
3-When the Lava Golem gets added to the deck at level 9 or 10, use the armor to redraw every enemy, every time, until the Golem appears
4-Do the same thing at Level 12 and beyond until the Lich appears

To unlock this achievement, you will need to kill at least one of each of the following enemy types:
- Dust (Bandits)
- Scales (Lizardmen)
- Plague (Ratmen)
- Skulls (Skeletons)
- Mages
- Lava Golems
- Liches
- Minotaurs
This means you DON’T NEED to fight the Hellbeasts, Goblins or Kraken. You also don’t need to go take out each individual boss, just each type above.
Which boss?
I found the best boss to go up against was the Jack of Scales, as the dungeon was a decent size, meaning there are enough chances to encounter the cards you might want. There are also two curses that are very manageable - Mana Drain (Cooldown times for weapons and artefacts are doubled) and Last Man Standing (In every combat, the last enemy alive can no longer be stunned or interrupted). This boss also comes with 2x Deadman’s Gorge, which means more combat.
I recommend having the Soul Gem encounter, just in case you want to remove one of these curses for the cost of 5 food.
You could also attempt this on endless, but you will have to deal with a lot more curses and more encounters that won’t benefit you.
Which encounters?
It should be obvious that you should include plenty of encounter cards in your deck, so you have increased chances or running into them. I used Summoned, Cave Shelter, Cave Rescue, Dead King’s Hall, Battle at Brooktop, Ambush, Deadman’s Gorge, Ratmen Hunting, Devil’s Choice and A Winding Trail.
I also included The White Minotaur (You’ll need to complete all the previous encounters for this), The Crucible (3 rounds of different enemies, which you get to choose) and Battle Practice (Complete all The Apprentice encounters and you can get this card which allows you to fight an enemy type of your choice...except the Minotaur).
Field of Poppies seems to help sometimes, but it doesn’t always reshuffle all the encounters on that dungeon level.
What else?
As much as there isn’t too much to remember, I recommend keeping note of which enemies you have encountered every time you start a new session. It’s easy to forget which you have fought when you’re on your 20th attempt or something.
You might be wondering what the best ways to encounter each of these enemy types are. It’s mostly random, unfortunately, but you should be able to encounter Dust and Mages from ambushes at shops. So if you still need those, go back and forth between the shop and try and get an ambush.
Battle Practice really is the most useful card for this encounter, along with Crucible.
Lastly, make sure you are well equipped to fight these enemies, as it’s easy to get into a combat situation with multiple bosses and find yourself in trouble. Know your bosses and try and kill them first.

The main thing is not to leave the game. You can die.
