How to unlock the Pure Enlightenment achievement in Hand of Fate - Definitive Guide

You will need to possess 10 blessings simultaneously to obtain this achievement. You CANNOT obtain this achievement if you play on apprentice difficulty.

Endless most is essentially necessary for this achievement as you just don't have enough time in any of the story levels. Also, there are only so many ways to obtain blessings, so you'll pretty much need to hit most of these, meaning you will need to unlock a lot of the encounter cards. Here's how you can get to 10 blessings

1. After progressing in the campaign you will always start with 1 blessing.
2. Call for a Priest Encounter: Sells 3 blessings (maybe 4?) for 60-75 gold each depending upon the blessing. Save gold so that you can buy as many as possible. If you have a ton of gold, then buy blessings, leave the shop move over to an adjacent card and then move back to the priest. He should offer you 3 more blessings to buy (Credit: Remeki). *** Sometimes, the priest may not offer you new blessings even if you continue to revisit him. Not sure why.
3. The Lovers Encounter: Offer to help = draw 1 blessing
4. Helpful Priest Encounter: Donate half your food. Huge success = 2 blessings, success = 1 blessing. Failures give curses.
5. Wandering Minstrels Request a song = possibility to draw 1-2 blessings. You will then need to pay them half your gold or food, or take a 1/4 chance just complementing them.
6. Desert Cult Encounter: Offer your blood to draw two pain cards, and then there's the possibility of drawing a blessing.
7. The Altar Encounter: Pray and on success you draw a blessing. On failure and huge failure you can lose a blessing or all blessings, so calculate the risk.
8. Loan Encounter: Gold payback counts as a blessing, but will only stick with you for 10 turns. Still helpful if you have 9 and are hunting down that 10th.
9. Cursed Treasure Encounter: Leave the treasure alone and sometimes you will get to draw 1 blessing.
10.Desert of the Damned Encounter: Choose open it and be successful, then choose request a favor and there's a chance to draw a blessing on success.
11. Devil's Carnival Encounter : Draw a blessing after 2x huge success.
12. Hero's Remains Encounter: Take the gear, return it and there's a chance to draw a blessing.
13. Holy Patronage Encounter: Pay 40 gold for a blessing.
14. The Lizard Dome Encounter: Win, and then if presented with the choice choose "Go back and free prisoners". On success you draw a blessing.
15. The Maiden Encounter: Choose to be blessed.
16. The Tavern Fail on the first attempt and then succeed on the second attempt and you should draw a blessing.

I think those are all of the possible ways to earn blessings. If you have the expansion, the monk can also choose a blessing as a possible reward for defeating undead. But as they get no benefit from gold gains it become harder to purchase the 3 from the priest, so I'd avoid the monk.

**The game seems to cap your curses+blessings at 18. So if you have 9 blessings and 9 curses, you will not be able to earn another blessing. This means you need to find a priest and pay to remove a curse before adding another blessing. Endless mode will add curses every few levels, and the ones that empower enemies can become very expensive to remove. I'd suggest saving all spare gold after buying blessings for removing curses.

Yeah, there's some weird underlying mechanic that I cant figure out exactly

I believe you're right, that there is a cap on Blessings+Curses at 15.

Yeah, I was glad I noticed that, because I was so infuriated that I easily had 9 blessings, but the 10th just wasn't happening.

Excellent guide ALollz! It is possible to revisit the priest like you can do with other shops to refresh the inventory if you buy him out. I had enough gold to buy six blessings from him once, so as long as you have the cash the priest is one of the more reliable sources.

I don't think so.

I bought all 3 and then when I revisited to refresh it didn't have anymore to sell. Neither did another different priest later on in the dungeon, but the option may have been greyed out later because I had 15 curses/blessings, and not because there were none to buy.

I'd wager it would be because you hit the curse/blessing cap, as I did purchase six blessing from the same priest whom I visited twice. It may be a issue that the priest only has certain blessings to sell as well. I've never seen one sell Guardian Angel or Will of the Gods for instance. I'd be quite interested if some has though.

Edit: Devil's Carnival encounter requires you to draw Huge Success two times in a row for a blessing.

Thanks, I updated it. I knew you had to draw the first one, but forgot which result you needed on the second draw, so I kept it as "chance" :p

Regarding the Priest, I think it may be that the Priest only sells certain blessings, as I was at 8 Blessings and 4 Curses (12 total), and couldn't get the Priest on the last floor of King of Plague to generate new Blessings no matter what I tried. It's a shame, too, since I had enough items to sell to be able to afford the last two Blessings.

Edit: Next run-through, the Priest on the second-to-last level kept offering new Blessings to sell, even when I was at 7 Blessings (and 2 Curses). I don't know. It's just odd.

Finally got it while going for the "champion" achievement. Don't know why it wouldn't give me more blessings before. Had to sell all my gear to barely afford to buy 10th blessing at a priest. Interestingly, it brought me to a total of 20 blessings plus curses, so I don't know what the deal is with that

The hanged man also gives out 1 blessing and 1 curse.
Not sure if this is related to the DLC or not, but this card is in the King of Skulls part of the game for me......... and it's really annoying cause it's in here 5 times. And 1 curse you start out with in this level is: every curse lowers your total health by 10. Currently sitting at 60 max health because of it. Got killed last game and had 8 blessings and 6 curses. Great info, thanks.

It is possible to earn this in story mode.

I selected King of Plague on Adventurer mode and ended up with 12 blessings before facing him. Yes, 12. It helped having the Oracle's Diadem helm equipped so I knew what cards were coming and so I wouldn't run into the King accidentally at the end.

I am pretty sure that the priest stops selling blessings once you have 7 of them, or there's something else I'm not understanding

I got mine in King of Skulls. I got Ghost of the sea card in the first floor and I dashboarded until she discarded all of the curses (really useful but not mandatory). I got 2 blessings from the minstrels and 2 from the altar, 1 from the maiden, 1 given at the start obviously, 2 from 2 hangmen (without losing 20 HP due the the removal of the initial curses), and at the last stage I was super lucky to get a priest. I was at 8 blessings and he only sold me 2, but hey that's enough for this annoying achievement.

I tried once in the infinite mode but lost at lvl 28, 2 encounters away from a priest. I was cursed with "you can't heal" since a couple of levels and between me and the priest was a Kraken. I had 17 HP, and I was not happy to meet him. If I were able to perfect fim it would have given me the achievement and most likely the lvl 30 >.<

King of Skulls is the way to go since you can get up to 4 more blessings from the Hanged Man cards.

Just got this achievement on Story Mode (King of Skulls). I added all the mentioned encounters along with some others that would benefit me (such as more gold to buy blessings). Field of Poppies also came in handy.

Ended up not having to buy any blessings and instead got lucky enough to encounter enough of the encounters and The Hanged Man a few times. Had to deal with the Midas Appetite curse for a while before I got the chance to remove it though... Could have gotten more than ten blessings too. :)

Thanks.

For Desert of the Damned you need a Huge Success followed by a regular Success to receive a blessing.

King of Skulls and + the DLC Explorer’s Gift makes this super easy. KoS gives you more free blessings at the cost of a curse. Explorers Gift makes edits revealed and stepping over repeated cards a food free move and still recovers you. Never have to buy food if you bounce back and forth between flipped cards for free health regen. Spend that saved gold on more blessings

I've just spent hours trying to get this one on endless, making it past level 20 each time, and I haven't been able to get more than 7 blessings! Certain cards, like the Maiden, don't give me an option to receive a blessing later in the game, same with the lovers. Do you need to unlock blessings? I've played for a while and unlocked a ton of cards, but the game won't give me more than 7 at once. (I ran into ghost of the sea as well who removed all my curses, so I had 0 curses, so it wasn't like I was at cap)

I don't know when they removed it, but the 18 cap is not there.* I am currently sitting at 10 Blessings and 13 Curses. One of which doesn't allow healing, so I'm staying alive only by luck/skill and the King's Ring atm. (I wanted to go for the Metal Mogul achievement, and since I had 7 Blessings I kept going. Now I'm trying to finish off the dragon set since I'm only missing the gauntlets, armor, and ring.)

Another thing, I'm not entirely sure why, but Merith stops giving you blessings after a certain amount. I landed on that space 3 times, and there wasn't an option for a blessing any of them. I think the first time I had 2, second 3, and third time 5 blessings on me. To make it more frustrating, she seemed to have less options by the third time. I think once you meet certain thresh-holds she stops helping you in those areas. (Last time she only offered more health or supplies.)

*Once I hit 10 blessings however, and landed on "The hanged man" for the second time, he only offered me a curse. I'm not sure if the blessing has a chance, or if once again, thresh-holds matter. Either way, I finished achieving this with a total of 25 blessing/curse cards. I don't know what the new cap is. (If there even is one.)

(Difficulty)

You cannot get this trophy by playing on Apprentice difficulty.

Blessings can be gained due to gain cards, and event cards. The Maiden, Helpful Priest, The Altar, Desert Cult, The Tavern, Cursed Treasure, among other event can give you blessings. In the "Call for a Priest" shop, you can buy blessings and the place can be revisited. I recommend doing this in endless mode. When you have 10 blessings active on you during a game the trophy will pop.

You should throw the maximum number of cards into the meeting deck, and for fulfilling the conditions, blessings and gold are given out. As a result, this will allow you to score 8 from cards and buy 2 in the store. In total 10.

Easily done on the King of Skulls boss. At the start we have one blessing and five Hanged Man cards, each of which gives one curse and one blessing. We throw all the cards that give blessings into the deck and quickly get the trophy without buying blessings. I recommend getting it before moving to the next level, there are fewer encounter cards in the deck and the chance of getting the ones you need is higher. At the "Apprentice" difficulty level, the trophy is not given.
