How to unlock the Very Lucky achievement in Hand of Fate - Definitive Guide

Choose a game story mission farther down the list, I prefer King Of Plague.

Cards to have in deck:
Encounter cards

RIVER (A must have)
Wheel of the gods(optional, but extremely helpful)

Equipment

Clairvoyant Helm (optional, but extremely helpful)
Ring of engorging(optional, but extremely helpful)
Guild ring(optional, but extremely helpful)

The clairvoyant helm will highlight a failure card every time...so you can pick success every time if you have no armor on!! Make sure to sell all armor in a shop before drawing cards on river!

The ring of engorging will double all food when bought, this makes it 30 gold for 20 food!

The guild ring takes 20% off food price, that makes 20 food only 24 gold!

Wheel of the gods will sometimes give you the food value equivalent to your health, but you must pull a huge success!

Now you will need at least 24 food once you find the river...so buy food at all times possible, the shop sells 10 food for 30 gold.

Now if you have all this equipment and or a lot of food find the river card and move to it....try to pick a success card, now move to the next card and then back to the river.... REPEAT this until the achievement pops!

Another option is to use a card called stranger in the shadows, he will steal 10hp and give you gold the first time, after that you can continue to let him drain you for 10hp each time IF you pull a success card. There are 3x success and one huge failure cards so you have a 75% chance each time to draw a success. Remember this will cost health!!!

Good luck, questions or concerns? Please post below. Thank you!

Are you able to do this in Endless mode or does it have to be story?

I am on level 30 endless mode on adventurer difficulty and it hasn't unlocked. I have drawn at least 1 success per level so I am thinking I will have to go story.

I've been dashboarding after a failure, and must have more than 15 now. Is "session" just one game (I'm in story mode) or do I have to do all 15 at one time, without quitting the game?

Dashboarding resets the counter.

Perhaps they patched it

You might add to the solution that your chest piece makes a difference in the amount of success chance cards you get. Light or no armor gives you the best odds.

Does it have to be in a row or is it 15 in total in one playthrough?

Shadow Agent Fate from the DLC makes it very easy to follow this guide. Also thought I would mention that you cannot get this on Easy

Got the achievement using this solution. All I needed was Clairvoyant Helm, I got my food by other means. But I do want to point out that after a few times, the Failure card on the River encounter became a Huge Failure card, negating the effect of the helm. Fortunately this still gives you a 75% chance to pick a Success card.

So I just found the easiest way to unlock both " Very Lucky" and "Very Unlucky" in a single session, but it requires the Wildcards DLC.
So you set up a game (I did it on Jack of Skulls) while using the "Explorer's Gift" wildcard from the DLC and having the "River" encounter in your deck. The other encounter cards and items you choose don't really matter. Start the session and try to find the "River".
Once you did, simply hop onto the card and pick whatever you like. The wildcard allows you to hop onto the card again and again without you ever having to worry about food or health. Just repeat it until both achievements are yours. 😎

Besides just playing, the best way I found out to achieve this it's:

-Play first history mode
-Grab as much food as you can
-Carry Light Armour
-Play until you find River card encounter
-Cross over until you have the achievement

Note, if you have also heavy armour on you, you can go as well for Very Unlucky achievement

After failure after failure I finally got this achievement.Using the River Method, Here's How:

Customise your deck. Make Sure Stranger in Shadows, River, Lionel, Maiden, Treasure Chest, Noble Trader etc are included. Remove any combat, or cards which offer no gold or equipment. You want to get as much gold and rings as possible before getting to the River.

Now Go to the Equipment and include all of the rings you possess making sure ring of exchange, ring of engorging are included.

As my deck was stacked with gain cards I had amassed over £200 and 8 rings by the time I hit the river card. At this point, I found the nearest Shop and sold my armour, swords etc I bought some food but spent most of my gold on items. Hitting Failure Cards on the River will quickly deplete your food and gold supplies, 1 card can remove 10 food or 50% of your gold but inventory items are never removed giving you a reserve to sell if you become desperate.

IT IS ESSENTIAL TO SELL ARMOUR -if using the river method as this changes the draw to 3 Success cards to 1 Failure. I did not find this out until very late in the process. This makes things very easy.

Everytime your food runs out head back to the shop, and this is where the ring of exchange and engorging become essential, If you sell a $12 ring the ring of exchange will give you 6 food, the ring of engorging would then double this number. Don't sell more than 1 item at a time. Again 1 failure card can decimate your resources.

Its Essential to Keep a tally - you have to be precise because your food and supplies are exhaustible. You will need at least 24 food and thats not including failures. Customising your deck, keeping a tally and selling your armour are the most important tips.(The reason I replaced all the armour with rings is that I also got the 10 Ring Achievement on this run)

Stranger In Shadows,Treasure Chest, Sunken Treasure, also provide opportunities to get the Success up.

A big item to help with selecting success cards is the Guardian Angel Blessing. After selecting a card by chance, it gives you the option to re-draw from a shuffled hand. Helped me loads recently. Sadly its appearance is random, so loading up on Blessing-giving Encounters like the Helpful Priest is the only way to earn it.

(Difficulty)

You cannot get this trophy by playing on Apprentice difficulty.

During the game many event cards make you "choose your luck" where you can have card giving you success, high success, failure and/or huge failure. Do this 15 times within one session and it will pop. 15 is quite a few so it's unlikely that you will get it during your normal play. There two ways of farming this:

1: Play Endless mode, don't die and don't run out of food then you can literally play endless until you'll get your 15 shots.

2: An easier option is to play a small campaign mission (like the Jack of Skulls) and have the event card "river" in your deck. You can play it over and over simply do it 15 times on success and get the trophy. It helps if you have the re-roll blessing and the helm that marks fail cards but are not essential.

Easily done with the "River" card. We stock up on food and put on medium or light armor. And then we simply go back and forth along this map and pull out the “Success” card, and so on until we receive the trophy.
