if you are going for the other achievements i guarantee you'll get this...
also a trick to get quicker games is go co-op, they are easier to win, now becuase of the grim reaper popping up and making this harder than it used to be you MUST be fast, use a cleric or engineer, run around the side lines of the match once you start (one many army lol) now get to the enemy base and build a battering ram and make that ASAP (hopefully no enemies have noticed or followed you) build it than use it as many times as you can to destroy that door, that ll give your team a big advantage.
also if done right in quick play with dumb opponents you can destroy their tower whilst your at it
i have several times in under 1min and won the match.

Simple but time consuming. Just keep playing whilst trying to get other achievements and it will eventually unlock but if you really wanted it could be worth trying to speed up the process by backdooring into the enemy base to knock down the big tower as quick as you can.

I don't know for sure because I just played online but I imagine it should.
If you want to make sure, have your achievements snapped as you finish a solo game and see if the progress bar goes up

Is this able to be done in solo mode or does it have to be online?

You can play any type except the tutorial (obviously). Story mode, quick match, Coop, events...they all count towards this achievement.
You don't even need to win. You also don't need to play 100 matches in one mode. You can also play 30 quick matches, 60 Coop matches and 10 special events (just an example).

For this achievement, you will need to play 100 games that are not in tutorial mode.
This should come naturally as you go for the other achievements. If for some reason you still do not have this after getting every other achievement, just keep playing multiplayer matches or story missions until this achievement unlocks.
