Complete all Salvage Goals on a Atlas Class Ship

21.4%

How to unlock the The Weight of the World achievement in Hardspace: Shipbreaker - Definitive Guide

At the top of the screen there are a number of salvage goals based on the $ amount of salvage you have recovered from the ship you are working on. When you start there are 5 salvage goals to get but this number increases as you gain ranks.

You will unlock Atlas when you reach rank 5. When you salvage the ship make sure that items go to the correct location, valuable items go to the barge, metal goes to the furnace, nanocarbon goes to the processor. If you minimize the amount of losses by throwing stuff into the wrong hopper, destroying things by mistake through explosive decompression, fires, or electrical damage, you will hit all the salvage goals relatively easily if you spend the time on the ship. There is a reasonably large amount of mistakes you can make and still make all the goals.

Atlas class ships unlock very early but they have extremely explosive thrusters. It may be safest to wait until you hit rank 10 to get the use of coolant or rank 11 when you unlock demolition charges. Both of these tools can make the extraction of the thrusters much safer.

To see how to use coolant to extract the thrusters check

To use the explosives, tether the thruster to the back wall, plant 4 charges on the pipes, blow then up simultaneously and just rush to the fuel cutoff once the thruster flies past you. You'll take a bit of fire damage this way.

There are actually Hazard Level 4 Atlas ships that don't require any special work. The tanks are in the very back and can be simply flushed with a switch and disconnected. No real risk of explosions.

On Open Shift, I found a Hazard Level 3 Atlas ship that counted that didn't require coolant to deal with the thrusters

Those stupid thrusters. If they are just one to a side, I can pop off the cap, cut the fuel lines and remove the thruster, fly past the fire and flush the fuel, and not get crushed or catch fire and only lose a small bit of pipe to scrap. I think the ones where there are 2 connected on each side, the second one gets clipped by the first one that's split after the fuel flush and I get crushed. I started just avoiding that setup since sometimes I can do the exact same thing and live but next time get crushed.
