How to unlock the Basic Training Certification achievement in Hawken - Definitive Guide

VR Training starts out locked.
In order to unlock VR Training you need to first play some VS matches. Makes perfect since I know right? roll but I digress. You need to be level 3 to unlock VR Training. I played 3 matches of Team Deathmatch which got me there.
It seems level 5 is now required to unlock VR Training.

VR Training is made up of 4 parts
- Movement
- Weapons
- Combat Tactics
- Combat Training
Once you've finished all 4 the achievement should unlock as the game loads back into the menu.

Having trouble finding the modes you're looking for?
-From the main menu select "PLAY".
-It's here that you'll find both VS match, which will start selected, and Training, which can be found on the left side of your screen.
-Once in Training select "3: VR TRAINING" on the far right.

EDIT: Sadly it seems this achievement is a bit buggy and doesn't always unlock when you complete the VR Training. If this happens to you a second time through the training has done the trick for at least 1 other achievement hunter by the name of DarkKnightKefka.

I remember when the game first came out it was unlocked but then they updated the game and all of a sudden it's locked like wtf lol.

Oh no, that's not good. I guess this one is a little buggy. I've got something you can try that's worked for me on another game recently but I'm not sure if it will in Hawken. It's pretty quick and easy to try though;
-first press the Guide button on your controller (the xbox logo right in the center)
-move to the far left tab, the one represented by your icon image
-press "A" on your Gamertag
-press "A" on "My Profile"
-move to the right twice so that you're on the "Gaming" tab
-move down till your on Hawken and press "A"
Hopefully this forces the achievement to pop for you, if it does please let me know and I'll add this into the solution for others that run into this bug.

Oh one last thing- training unlocks at lvl 3, not just after 3 matches. If you do bad you wont lvl.

In order to unlock VR training you must be level 3 so I recommend playing team deathmatch until you unlock it. VR Training consists of 4 "stages" and upon completing the 4th stage you will (maybe, quite buggy) obtain the achievement Basic Training Certification for 100 gamerscore.

This doesn't work, option 1 Offline Team Deathmatch didn't unlock this, neither did option 2 Offline Bot Training.

Option 3 VR Training is greyed out.

This is a horrible guide. Not only do I have no clue what you are talking about you only have to do the VR Training all the way to the right. The others are just wasting your time.

They must have changed it because when the game came out it was exactly like I described. I would go on the game and change the guide but i'm not home...

As of 2022, the VR training missions have been updated: there are 6 of them now and you have to hit Level 5 before you're able to play them.

1st mission is general movement.
2nd is dashing, hovering and spinning.
3rd is how to use weapons.
4th is abilities like coolant.
5th is a dodging tutorial.
The last mission is a simple fight with 3 AI mechs, each spawning after the previous one was killed.

The achievement should pop somewhere between getting the "Training Complete" screen and the main menu.

VR training is available from the main menu when you start up the game. Simply go through all of the training missions and this trophy will be yours! I recommend getting this right away when you start playing, as it will definitely give you an edge while you play, as it provides a really solid tutorial with tips on how to dominate the battle field!

  • Mech Movement
  • Mech Weapons
  • Combat Tactics
  • Combat Training

Let's go into the game. Then - into “training”. We go through all three stages, it doesn’t take long. We get the necessary basic knowledge of fur control, and at the same time - a trophy!!!
