Mythic items are found in chests with a chance of 1/500 or from a random miniboss. The second option is your best bet. These appear as white enemy squares on your map.
Both woodlands and swamplands have the same number of Mythic Items, so neither has higher odds, just pick whichever you like better and hunt chests and fight any miniboss you find.
