Heavy Weapon

This is a pretty straight forward achievement and should be obtained on a normal play through.

You need to beat all 19 mission to obtain the achievement. Each mission gives the player 3 lives to work with and there are unlimited continues which only costs the player their cumulative score for each use. After each level is completed the player is returned to the armory to select an upgrade. In the beginning I recommend upgrading only your weapons since the real difficulty will be shooting everything out of the air, once that is done upgrade the shields and counter measure orbs as you see fit. The first 9 levels are pretty simple, you have a long path that the tank follows ending in a Boss Battle. After the first nine levels are completed the player will again have to fight the same 9 Bosses again only now they are a bit stronger and use different attacks. The achievement will pop after the player has completed the final boss battle!

Here are some tips to help along the way should you choose to use them:

1. Destroy the planes dropping the nukes as soon as they appear on the screen since if the bomb hits the ground you lose a life instantly.

2. Use your nukes sparingly if you can. Firing a nuke will wipe the screen of enemies but not the ones off screen that are about to come attack so only fire the nuke when you are about to die or the screen is full of enemies.

3. Be sparing with the MEGA LASER weapon that the player puts together. The meter will go down faster if the player constantly moves the laser around the screen. So only fire the laser when there are enemies on the screen. In the later levels try and keep this saved up to deal with the screen of missiles that rain down on the path.

4. Stay away from the ends of the screen. Early in the game you will see vehicles (Bulldozers/Trucks) coming from off screen to attack the player on the left and the right. (these should be the next enemy the player engages after the nuke plane)

5. Finally the most annoying enemy IMO are the planes that fly at a downward angle and fire pink shots at the player. These combined with the nuke planes and the bulldozers are what make the later levels difficult. (The helicopters are just about as bad but at least they are easier to kill)

Widescreen glitch
If you play the game in widescreen 1080i, switch your console settings to 480 normal. The game gets dramatically easier. You will see less enemies on screen and the bosses will only fire half the amount of shots
(This may seem like an exploit but it is by design and thus not cheating.)
