Quick tip that may speed up the process by a significant amount of time, you can pick the apple off of the tree. Jump from an elevated area and, as you glide down with the umbrella, be ready to grab.

I think my game is glitched. The tree grows, but it's already been 6 hours and it's not over yet. It's as big as the house now

If anyone has an issue with the apple not spawning once the tree has fully grown, just die and respawn in the next time of day and the apple should be there.

Played act 3 multiple times, but there never was a golden apple... What am I doing wrong? Waited way more time than 4 hours on all act 3 plays.

Can confirm that dying spawns the apple once the tree is fully grown. Wasted so many hours waiting. Thought my game was broken!

Also I'd recommend saving every now and again while the tree is growing (and like me that's all you're waiting for). My game crashed really close to the end; meaning the tree goes all the way back as the game won't autosave unless you're actually doing something.

So this is semi-bugged on the Windows 10 version. If you wait 3.5 hours the tree stays green and never grows the apple. But if you load it up on the Xbox, the tree is now red and you can grab the apple. Or you could just restart the Windows 10 app and the apple should magically be there despite the tree still being green and not red.

I just got it despite there initially being no apple. It turns out you have to wait for a period of time after the tree is fully grown.

So what I did was I stood inside my house, rubberbanded both thumbsticks so that I very slowly walked in a circle while looking at the ground (you have to rubberband BOTH thumbsticks or the game menu eventually pops up, stopping the timer).

After roughly 30 minutes I walked my character outside to check and the apple was there in the same place as in the videos.

If you happen to panic throw the umbrella the first time you use it and fall to your death causing it to disappear forever and don't have a save at that point you can still get to the seed on the platform with the double jump ability you get from one of the mini games.
This might save a lot of you some time if this happens.

There also might have been a second umbrella in the area, I probably lost that the same way...

the green gram a phone saves your time... big time
plus once we seen it on the branch of the tree, we knocked it down...
achievement popped.... couldn't record total time my son switched
games to fortnite battle royal...

Green gramophone does not accelerate the apple tree growth.

In Act 3 obtain the Golden Apple. The seed is located on a chair on the side platform on the left side of the house (facing it), so you’ll need an umbrella and jump from high off the main house to get it. Plant in the large fenced off patch of dirt in front of the house to the right. Then take a watering can (should be one just in front of the house) and fill with water (from George’s house is fine) to water the ground. Now you have to wait THREE AND HALF HOURS in game for the tree to grow. Once it’s done, either shoot down or throw something to knock the apple off from the upper part of the tree and grab the apple to win. Using the ‘growth’ gramophone doesn’t speed up the growth.
