How to unlock the Ace Killer achievement in Heroes Over Europe - Definitive Guide

Most definitely the easiest achievement in the game! Just look at the TA Ratio!

Basically, all you need to do to unlock this achievement is to follow Cliff's instructions in the very first mission. He will show you how to perform an Ace Kill, and then it will be your turn. Simply Ace Kill the Messerschmitt, and the achievement will be yours.

Story related, cannot be missed - You’ll get this trophy during mission 1, Phoney War.

Halfway through the mission you will have to complete a tutorial on performing Ace Kills.

  1. Close on your target until the Ace Kill reticule appears and locks.
  2. When in range, Ace Kill will charge automatically. The meter must be at least half full to enter Ace Kill. Press to activate.
  3. Target an enemy’s weak points. When the reticule turns yellow, press to fire.

While you’re in Ace Kill mode the weak points are presented as yellow. The weak points’ locations depend on the type of aircraft you are engaging. Locations include the pilot, fuel tank, engine(s), ammo boxes.

Note: Ace Kill will not charge while you are firing or taking damage.

‘Ace Killing’ is taught to you in the first mission of the game, and you must do at least 1 Ace kill to complete the mission. Simply keep an enemy plane in your cross hairs until the red line fills at least ½ of the circle around the cross hairs. Then, press and shoot the ‘Hot Spots’, the things that are a yellow and glowing. No matter what plane, if you kill the Pilot, the plane will die. If you do not shoot the Pilot, you can shoot the Engines or Ammo Boxes. With Fighters, you only need to shoot 1 Engine (they only have 1) or 1 Ammo Box (these are the ‘Hot Spots’ in the middle of the wings). For Bombers, you must shoot out ALL the Engines to kill it, or get the pilot. Bombers do not have Ammo boxes you can shoot.
