Once Gene joins your home he will begin watching TV. There are plenty of ads to watch and this particular one is rare. To grind it quickly, keep loading the last checkpoint when inside of your home. The ad will change each time. You need the ad with the robot talking about prizes. Once it comes on stay in the room and watch the TV for the full 8* minutes.

If Checkpoint loading isn't working, open a portal to Human Haven and travel between there and home! Or, quit to the main menu and load back in.

Quick Resume didn't pop the achievement - Got the commercial on the first reload but had to power down the console and loaded back in via Quick Resume a day later, had the countdown finish but no new commercial was shown and the achievement didn't pop. Quit the game, loaded back in about 20 times, commercial came and the achievement popped this time once the following commercial was shown. Didn't use Quick Resume or pause the game this time.

Just to put it in perspective for everyone, this video was made from a 27 minute clip of me reloading checkpoints, so it is completely RNG luck based on how fast or slowly you get it to appear. Happy this method is working for everyone though!

The Countdown popped up for me when I was in the middle of the

mission and i could return to the house in the meantime. i'm not saying that's how you get it but i think if keep reloading a checkpoint in the house then im pretty sure you can get the Robot counting down.

you're not allowed to leave the room and then try to come back. even the robot says during the count down so i recommend you just find something to do during the 5 minutes or just somehos enjoy the countdown

I loaded Clugg's Office into the portal and just walked back and forth through the portal. The TV program changes each time, just like loading the last checkpoint, but you don't even need to use a menu.

Easy, easy way to do this later in the game. Open a portal to the human haven, step in and warp to the haven. Then turn around and head right back. Repeat until the commercial appears.

Warping and last checkpoint never changed the commercial. I had to dashboard (quit out) in order to get a different commercial. Still took like 15 quits.

I just reloaded my checkpoint in front of the tv right after beating the game. It took me 5 reloads (~30 seconds). I don’t know if they edited this in an update to appear faster but…I have never seen it before now.

Set the portal to Unknown Sector -> Human Haven.
Simply walk in and out until you see the robot commercial. The warp there and back is only 1 second (on the Xbox Series X), and the commercial changes each time.

I found it in less than 3 minutes.

Reloading a checkpoint IS NOT NECESSARY.

I have had no luck with human haven or loading last check point. It just repeats the same thing from the beginning every time I go back to the house. Quitting to main menu does make it change. Playing on XBSX. Interestingly, after about 20 tries I randomly got the playing card to get achievement for collecting all cards even though I definitely haven’t.

@duderocketship-quit the game instead of using main menu.
(I.e., use the Xbox button to bring up side menu, highlight High on Life game tile, use menu button and select quit).
Start game again and commercial should change.

On XBox here. I did the steps below to get it to change ads and it's better than closing out the game or quitting to title.

1) Set portal to Haven.
2) Load last checkpoint.
3) Walk through portal to Haven, then back through portal to home.

If you don't get the robot ad, repeat steps 2 and 3 until you do. Took me about 50 to 60 tries to get it to play.

Did this before going to get Krubis. Loading last checkpoint wasn't working for me, had to quit to Main Menu a fair few times (~12 times) to get the countdown to show up.
Weird note. After a few times of doing that, I popped the achievement for collecting all trading cards in the game somehow.

Completed this post game using the warp to human haven method in this post. I had different ads appear each time I warped, and it felt like forever before the robot finally appeared. In fact, I got so bored of never seeing it I actually quit the game and tried again the next day (twice). I probably spent a total of 30 mins screwing around for it to appear. So anyone who is struggling to get this, rest assured it is pure rng, probably a low chance of appearing on the screen, just keep trying and you’ll eventually get it to appear!

What worked for me ... got it to show up with Creature equipped. Tried using Gus first but that wasn't working. I just started changing weapons every time I went through the portal from Human Haven. Only took about 20 attempts.

It's total rng. He even mentions luck when the ad appears. Using the portal worked for me as checkpointing post game meant the TV was off until I used the portal. To speed it up slightly don't bother turning around just hold back on the left stick.

Reloading checkpoint gave a black TV screen alternate attempts, and I also had the same few clips repeating. Pulling back the LS to go back and forth through the portal gave no black screen, but still repeating clips. However, when I went out the front door at the end of the game and let the atmosphere kill me, I respawned in the house a got this clip/achi first try.

Convinced that you only get it once a playthrough and I've somehow missed it.

The checkpoint reload doesn't work, just has the TV blank/black screen.

The AD starts with "Hey, Bountyhunter" and then mentions prizes if you watch the whole thing - so no need to be in the room for more than a few seconds.

Easiest way (took six portal transfers - about 4 mins) is to just return to wherever you travelled from - keep going portal travelling back and forth until you hear 'Hey Bountyhunter'.

The checkpoint reload does work, at least for me. I started as soon as I got back home after the final boss. The first reload is a black screen but do it again and the TV comes on, so you just have to last checkpoint twice each time. Still quicker than portal travelling.

It's much faster than reloading last checkpoint (at least for me).

I think you have to do it after beating the last boss as well, because that's the only time the TV played commercials/mini shows for me.

I could never get whatever movie or commercial was playing to change by reloading so I didn't worry about this, but it happened to be what was playing when I continued after beating the boss. The achievement didn't pop until I quit and logged back in like Mortis Invictus.

Good lord I had to reload checkpoint in the house like 100 times for it to finally come on, but it did eventually. Good god.
I also watched the entirety of vampire hookers, what a movie, lmao. People were saying it came on during the movie, but not for me. It's totally random.

Tl;Dr just keep reloading checkpoint in the house (when the TV is on, obviously) and hopefully it will show up for you sooner than it did for me. I did this after the final boss, as well. I don't think it matters when you do it, so long as the TV is on.

Thankfully the commercials are all entertaining so I got to see all of them, I think.

I have literally travelled through the portal and back about 200 times, I have never seen the robot ad once! I have completed the game also.

Edit: Just quit the game a couple of times instead of reloading checkpoint and the ad came on 2nd time. The game also gave me the Trading Card achievement which had previously been stuck at 81% as soon as I went back into game for 2nd time.

Quitting out and then hitting continue game was the only way I could get the show to change - took me maybe 15 quit and continue attempts to get the correct advert.
Weirdly however when doing the quit out and continue method the achievement for collecting all trading cards “Playing Card to Get” popped for me - I only have a couple of the cards collected so far.

Also it seemed as though checkpoint reloading would only work every other attempt, it cycled between TV off and TV on for me. I ended up getting it by quitting out to the main menu as I was trying to cheese the card collector achievement.

I'm 2 bounties into the game, and no matter how many times I reload checkpoints in the house, all it ever plays is the Denise Richards film.

Update - OK I just got it. Reloading the checkpoint just made the same thing play on the TV over and over. However by actually quitting to the menu and then continuing the game instead it made the programme change, so after maybe about 20 reloads the right one started and the achievement popped at the end.

Like some others, I had trouble finding the commercial and then getting the achievement to pop:

– Reloading the save didn’t change the commercial for me; I quit to main menu and then Continued each time, and that changed the commercial. Took me about five tries to find it.

– The achievement also *did not pop* after I finished watching the commercial. So I went ahead with my next bounty, got an autosave, and then quit to main, went to dashboard, quit the game. I then loaded the game back up, continued with my save, and the achievement popped immediately upon loading back in.

This is possible at any point during the game, including after defeating the final boss, and is rewarded for watching a specific commercial on the in-game TV.

The easiest way to grab it is to go home, stand in front of the TV, wait for it to save, then pause, and Load Last Checkpoint. Every time the game reloads, it will change the commercial. The goal here is to keep reloading until you see a commercial of a robot talking about prizes and they begin counting down from 85. Once this starts, you have the correct commercial. Reloading can take several minutes; personally it took me 15 minutes to find the correct one. Some have reported even longer.

You are allowed to look away, but you are not allowed to leave the room. This entire commercial lasts about 8 minutes, and the achievement unlocks afterwards.

Doesn't work for me E vee dub. Portal has same commercial every time, reloading last checkpoint same commercial every time.

Only thing that changes it to different one for me is restarting the game, which isn't terrible on Series X but I'm sure is super slow on One.

I tried 100+ reloads/warps but couldn't get a new ad to load when I warped from haven. Reloading checkpoint or quitting and continue game didn't work either.

I got the achievement within 5 minutes when I quit to Menu and Load Game. This guaranteed a new ad for me everytime and got the ad after about 20 reloads.

This is the best solution. Fastest loading times and for whatever reason during this method I got the achievement for collecting all trading cards. Not sure if that will happen for other people, but thats what happened to me!

The easiest way to do this if you are later in the game is:

1. From the living room open a portal to Human Haven
2. Step into the portal
3. As soon as you appear in the Human Haven, turn around and warp back.
4. Television commercial will have changed.
5. Repeat until you see the commercial.

Took me like 10 minutes or so of warping.

I believe this can be done at anytime during the game , This will happen while at your house there will be a commercial of a robot counting down from 85 this particular ad in the game seems to be the hardest to get I was going back and forth to the menu this took around 30 minutes of attempts to get there seems to be atleast 100 ads in the game so you can imagine it can take awhile hopefully you get lucky
Once you get this ad you MUST STAY in the room for the entire 5 minute duration of the ad playing otherwise it will not count towards the achievement

After trying the “Load Checkpoint” method a few times, I unlocked this a different way.
I’ve finished the final mission and appeared back in the house. The TV is always on now. But I guess you can try this any time, as long as the TV is on.
Make sure your controller is connected to the Xbox, position yourself in the living room, and place a rubber band around the right stick of your controller. This will stop your Xbox going idle. Then go and do something else. Go to bed, if you want.
This achievement popped after 35 minutes for me. I can’t imagine it could take much longer than that.

Not only is Gene a giant free-loader but he also watches some questionable tv.

This achievement can be unlocked at any point during the game once Gene moves in and the TV is turned on.

You can keep reloading checkpoint or hoping in and out of the portal in the house until you get the robot on the tv but once you do, it should take about 5 real-life minutes for the countdown to complete and the achievement to pop!

I got this achievement after beat the game. You have to watch a commercial of a robot that speaks about prizes on TV at home.

There's a way to do this achievement by reloading the checkpoint of the game until the commercial showing up but in my case I was so bored of reloading and the commercial not showing up that I decided to do the secret ending.

After I finished, I came back home and immediately the commercial appeared. I don't know if this will work for you but it worked for me.

Once Gene joins your home he will begin watching TV. there are plenty of ads to watch and this particular one is rare. To grind it quickly, keep loading the last checkpoint when inside of your home.
