How to unlock the Set for Life achievement in Hitman: Absolution - Definitive Guide

You earn money for completing Hitman Contracts in Contracts mode, these can either be from ones you search for, are given from by IO Interactive as you play missions or from friends in "tournaments".

They're all for differing amounts of money depending on what is required, but it's very quick to earn $1m credits, for example, simply choosing:
Mansion Ground Floor (the first level) hide behind the basket to your left as the guard comes down the stairs, sneak past, go upstairs, garrote the guard at the balcony (you may have to wait until he starts giving his talk) and put the guard in the basket in the bathroom (at the top of the stairs) then run to the exit (on the balcony).

This is a one hit mission, simple garrote kill, bodies hidden, unseen. Set this for a friend, it takes less than a minute to play and will earn them around $350,000, which is considerably more than other missions with multiple, difficult hits will net.

Simply adding more things to the mission (more hits) will obviously add to the funds.

Note: those who make the Contracts do NOT earn this cash from it, have your friend make the contract back and invite you into the 'tournament'.

Another note. Is that you have to do more than 1contract. Each time you redo the Sam one,you only get the difference between your score this round and if you beat the current high score

Yeah, I played mine and was wondering why I didn't get cash. Good tip at the bottom.

Just in case anyone has a similar experience: For whatever reason this didn't pop for me once I rolled over the 1 million mark, but I did one more contract after that and the achievement clicked.

MattyJWest, did you return to the main menu after playing the contract that got your score over 1mil?

This is how it worked for me: Finished contract, the count-up after the contract shows my total score go over 1mil (no achievement yet). Return back to main menu where the total score once again shows the increase in points go over 1mil, achievement pops.

i had the same as MattyJWest. I got over 1 million dollars but didn't get the achievement. I went to the main menu but that didn't work. So i did another contract and immediately after completing that contract, it unlocked.

Dunno if it was a pre-order thing, but I started with 100k or something, bought an upgrade to leave me with 45k before I even touched a contract. My earnings were over 1,045,000 so can't say if that could be a reason

I got this playing 3 quick contracts for nearly $400K each. I filtered for Mansion & Silent Assassin and played ones which were to kill the chef. Each of them was trivial and only lasted a couple of minutes, with most of that time spent waiting for the guard to leave the room.

I had the same issue, 1.1million and no achievement. Did another which put me up to 1.3million and it popped up

The achievement says to EARN $1M, not accumulate $1M. I recall starting with $75k, which does count toward the achievement. You can see what your earnings are on the Contracts main menu where it says TOTAL EARNINGS. You will get the achievement upon completing the contract which makes that exceed $1M.

@Scruffy Not sure how you managed to find contracts worth $400k only killing one person. The highest I could find was $200k for killing the chef. You have to kill multiple people in order to find something around $300-$400k

That was over 5 years ago. Obviously it changed since then. So you had to spend 10 minutes doing this instead of 6 minutes, no big deal.

I played a couple of friends missions, but ended up just searching for simple (no additional requirements), one-hit, bare-handed kills missions that pay about $100-150K. You'll be surprised how many of such missions are there right now, mostly created by players who just wanted to get the Create Contracts Tutorial achievement out of the way quickly

Doing these contracts quickly, and then running towards the exit usually nets around $200K (with the time bonus added). It took me around less than an hour to earn 1 million.

+1 to the solution by the way.

I would like to add a suggestion on how to get this achievement.
This requires a second account connected to Xbox live, silver is fine.
So start on your second account and create a contract in the mansion, It will be quickest to target the Chef and the guard who are arguing about a recipe. Use headshots and use the door that was behind you when you started. Create this and send to your Main Account.
Now repeat this 4 more times sending each contract after you have sent your fifth one sign in to your main account and complete them all. You should get $250,000+ for each.

You need to do 5 contracts because you can't get extra money from repeating just one.

Thanks for reading this long guide :P and good luck.

If you decide to down vote please explain your reason in the comments so I can try and improve it.

Yeah, nice solution, but its faster to do random contracts than switching accounts. At least, for me it was faster and very easy.

You can add info if you wish that you can only create a competion, not just send contract to friends. I was confised for a sec.

If you also hide the bodies in the freezer you can get ~$350,000 so then you only need to do 3. But either way this is way faster than doing random contracts other people made.

You acquire cash in Contracts, not the main game.

In order to acquire fundage in Contracts, you need to do what was intended: play through other peoples contracts. Easy enough, right?

Some contracts are a pain, but most are pretty straight forward. You can also choose the contracts you want to play based on difficulty, mission specific checkpoints, etc. If you want to knock this out early, there are literally dozens of contracts you can find where all you do is assassinate the chef during the prologue mission.

PLEASE NOTE: Do not think you can play the same contract over and over to farm cash. The only thing you will gain by replaying a contract is a few bucks IF AND ONLY IF you beat your previous score. In order to get to 1 mil you need to play multiple contracts.

Questions, corrections and neg vote justifications below.

This is a total amount earned. If you wish you can boost this with a friend by making extremely easy contracts for one another to gain money quickly. You can also earn money on the tutorial. You cannot keep replaying the same contract to gain money. You can also play some through quickplay. Just remember, not everyone wants to make it easy on you. An easy contract is to play on Chinatown. As soon as you exit the doors, mark the 2 chefs. Use Point Shooting and exit to the door on the right. This can take under a minute to complete and earns you well over $100,000.

Go to Contracts / Quick Play / Find Contracts.

Press Y or Choose Filter.

Change "Checkpoint" to Mansion Ground Floor and hit search.

They we're all pretty simple and self explanatory - just kill the targets and get to the exit. I never cared for any other optional requirements. Took me 10 minutes to get this done.

Easy examples:
3-0040--11864-drvx
3-0040--13670-fuck
3-0040--42226-tomj
3-0040--42290-gria

Unobtainable, due to server closure.

See the Contracts: Trophy Boosting Thread (Read First Post) if you need to find people to help in contracts mode.

Note: You cannot keep replaying the same contract for this, or your own contracts.

This may sound bad at first but it's actually really easy. All you have to do is complete contacts until you reach a million earnings from contracts. Some can give you as much as quarter of a million, while most give you 100K. The easiest way to get this trophy is just keep playing the very short easy contracts. You can have a friend make loads of easy ones and you just play them until you earn a million. The trophy will pop on the main menu after earning a million through contracts.

A quick way to earn 1 million: complete a contract -> search for contracts -> filter. Next we put the following: popular, old mill, all categories, legend, any. And we do it. After 3-5 such contracts, a trophy will drop.

I will share my sad experience. It so happened that I did not have money credited to my account for completed contracts. That is, I went online, completed the training, started the contract, completed it, looked at the results of what I received, and in the menu it says “Total $0 earned.” The second and third contracts are similar. Nevertheless, in the completed contracts the record remains, supposedly they gave away so much change, but the pocket is still empty. I scoured the Internet, on the forum, many said it was a glitch and described methods. I tried as advised after the next contract to go to the creation of these / to the lists of leaders of the richest killers / to go to the online and story selection menu, then returned to the contracts lobby, but nothing helped and the ill-fated 0 drilled a hole in the screen. Frankly in despair, I asked around the last “Platiners” from this page, some of course thought I don’t understand what contracts are at all, they explained what it is and that money is given for them, so it kind of goes into the account. Others who personally encountered this advised reinstalling the game. By the way, the game is on disk, the code for online free was taken from the PS Store. Reinstalling didn't help either. I was already thinking about whether I should include the code from the kit, in case something goes wrong somewhere even for this reason. I reinstalled the game several times, the key for contracts, and overwritten the save. The third time I decided to launch without a patch and received a connection failure from PSN refusing to install it. This was discovered when, when choosing contracts, they advised me to log in to play, then intrusively install a patch, and then kindly let me into online mode, or turn around and get another kick from PSN if I refuse. I had to bet, already from under the game. And suddenly Miracle!! In the lobby, in the “Contracts passed” line, a strange value 485.320 appeared and money began to be added. By the way, information appeared in the Leaderboards, before that they wrote that no one had yet set a single record, well, no one had played it before. So something like this, in case it helps someone.
Oh yes! During the last installation, I haven’t yet adjusted the setting to the edges of the screen... If this is the reason for this glitch, then I don’t even know what to say within the limits of the words allowed by the site.
