How to unlock the A Keen Sense of Spell achievement in Hogwarts Legacy - Definitive Guide
You will be introduced to your Ancient Magic powers during your first trip to Hogsmeade while collecting your supplies (wand, potion ingredients, etc.)
This achievement didn't unlock for me during that battle though, I guess since it was the tutorial for it essentially. The next time you get into real combat, using your LB+RB attacks will trigger this

At this point I feel like a lot of people just have at least one random achievement that won't unlock. For me it's the Rookwood one but I've seen people comment on almost all of them that it didn't pop for them.
Hopefully they add a new patch that fixes this stuff.

On my YouTube channel I've created gameplay walkthrough videos covering this game.
This trophy is obtained during the Secrets of the Restricted Section quest. I began this quest at the tail end of the part 5 video from Professor Fig. The quest is completed in my part 6 video. I'll provide both below.
In this quest you're sneaking into the restricted section with Sebastian Sallow. During this quest he teaches you the spell Disillusionment, which makes you nearly invisible. This is useful for stealth sections or sneaking up on the chests with eyeballs to open them. I won't go into spoilers here, but once you and Sebastian part ways you'll end up in a new area where you fight some Pensieve Sentries (enchanted suits of armor). During the first encounter I noticed a prompt on the enemies to hit [cn_LB] + [cn_RB]. Doing this uses an ancient magic attack for big damage. You have a bar that, when sections are full, allows you to do these attacks. After using the ancient magic attacks on the Sentries the achievement (recorded on Xbox) should pop (happened at roughly 20:00 in the part 6 video).
If you found these videos helpful, please consider giving a like and/or subscribe. This is a small channel on YouTube and any support is greatly appreciated.

Rather bizarrely with this achievement, it didn’t actually pop for me until I’d used Ancient Magic a few times. When you get Ancient Magic, at the end of “Welcome to Hogsmeade,” ( and ) and use it on the troll, that seemingly didn’t count. Even when I used it on the next enemy, it didn’t register. It wasn’t until the third enemy I used an Ancient Magic attack on did the achievement unlock.
Hopefully it won’t be as buggy for all you out there. You’ll no doubt use Ancient Magic a lot, so it’ll pop eventually… surely!
