How to unlock the Loom for Improvement achievement in Hogwarts Legacy - Definitive Guide
You can get this achievement through the main quest The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom.
Near the end of the quest, you will get access to the Magical Loom. Using this new conjuration, you can use magical ingredients from the animals you collect in the wild to be able to upgrade your gear.
This achievement only requires ONE piece of gear to be upgraded, so chances are you've got enough material to upgrade one of your pieces.

In this guide we will show you how to upgrade your gear in Hogwarts Legacy and earn the “Loom for Improvement” Achievement/Trophy.
Regularly upgrading your equipment is one of the keys to success in Hogwarts Legacy, however this process requires rare raw materials and the only way to obtain them is to capture Magical Beasts.
The first step before you start upgrading your cape, hat and other gear is to complete the main quest “The Elf, The Nab-Sack and the Loom”. During this mission you will gain access to the spell “Nab-Sack”, which is practically a bag that “sucks” Magical Beasts, and then to the Vivarium, a new area within the Room of Requirement.
In the Vivarium you can release the Magical Beasts and use your spells to brush and feed them. Once this process is complete, the creature will reward you with 3 or 5 items. For example, brushing and feeding a Jobberknoll will give you 5 Jobberknoll Feathers.
Once you complete the main quest “The Elf, The Nab-Sack and the Loom” you will unlock a new workbench, the Enchanted Loom. From then on you should conjure this bench anywhere you wish in the Room of Requirement. Along the way you just have to choose the item you want to upgrade and spend the necessary raw materials.
You can also earn the “Third Time's a Charm” Achievement Trophy in the exact same way, which requires you to upgrade an item three times. Of course, this process requires rarer raw materials, so you will need to search for more Magical Beasts and add them to your Vivarium.

During the main story quest "The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom" you'll be introduced to the "Nab-Sack" for capturing beasts, a Vivarium to house them and how caring for them will provide you with materials. At the very end of the quest Deek will give you the Spellcraft for an "Enchanted Loom." The Loom will grant you the ability to upgrade your "Gear" using the materials collected from your cared for beasts.
The materials needed to upgrade the gear varies and the rarer the gear the more materials you'll need to upgrade it to the next stage. For example a "Common" set of Gloves may require 1x Jobberknoll Feather, where as an "Extraordinary" set of Gloves might need 3x Jobberknoll Feathers. Also reach rank of the upgrade tends to require an additional material from another beast. So upgrade one might need 1x Mooncalf Fur but upgrade two will need 2x Mooncalf Fur and 1x Diricawl Feather to upgrade.
As long as you have captured a good variety of beasts and collect their materials regularly it should be pretty straight forward to upgrade an item through levels 1 to level 3. If you wanted to get this achievement out the way, pop a "Common" item into the "Enchanted Loom" and see what beast material is needed. If you don't have said material, head over to "Brood & Peck" the beast shop in Hogsmeade and you can buy the materials needed instead.
Note: Each beast will give you 3x/5x their material every 25 minutes when fed and bushed.

You can earn this by completing the main quest The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom.
You will unlock the magical loom conjuration and can use materials farmed from magical beasts you have tamed to upgrade your equipment here.
Note: I disregarded the loom for a large part of the game - however, fully upgrading gear and slotting in damage traits really does make a difference to your damage output.

A fair way into Hogwarts Legacy you’ll unlock the Room of Requirement. A fair few missions after that, you’ll attend Beasts Class. And then, a few more missions after that, you’ll unlock the mission “The Elf, The Nab-Sack and The Loom.”
This whole mission introduces you to how to catch wild beasts and where to find them. The quest will also introduce you to harvesting valuable items and using the loom to upgrade equipment too. In fact, you’ll have to upgrade a piece of gear as part of the quest. So, just stick to the quest and you’ll unlock this, no problem.

The ability to update equipment will appear after the quest to capture animals.
The quest from the house elf Deek (in the original Dick) can be obtained in the room of help; it appears after you complete the lesson on caring for animals.

Things are improved with the help of a loom. It is enough to upgrade any piece of equipment to one position out of three, since this will still have to be done during the game, it is extremely difficult to miss a trophy.
