How to unlock the The Ends Petrify the Means achievement in Hogwarts Legacy - Definitive Guide

Petrificus Totalus is a sneak attack spell which can be cast while cloaked in Disillusionment. Simply cast Disillusionment on yourself and sneak up behind an enemy. You should get the option to press cn_X and use Petrificus Totalus to incapacitate the target. Do this a total of 50 times to unlock the achievement.

Disillusionment is unlocked during the story mission "Secret of the Restricted Section" with Sebastian. You automatically get the ability to use Petrificus Totalus with it although not explained until later in the game.

Just wanted to note that sometimes you won’t get the option/pop up to press x, the enemy’s health bar will turn from red to blue and then you can use it and press x if that makes sense

Just something I found helpful is using the spell "Glacius". If used on an enemy who is alone it should give the option to press X and use "Petrificus Totalus" to defeat them

If you are having trouble getting this because you keep getting detected then wait until you learn the Imperio curse from Sebastian. That spell turns a bad guy "good" essentially and you can walk right up to them and tap X to petrify them. I found it a lot easier and faster than sneaking around with the Disillusionment spell.

In the story mission, “Secrets of the Restricted Section,” you’ll naturally unlock a couple of spells. Firstly, Disillusionment, which makes the main character invisible, and secondly, Petrificus Totalus, which is a stealth takedown that effectively turns the target to stone and then evaporate. These are your stealth tools.

In order to get this achievement all you need to do is stealth takedown a total of 50 enemies. Now, combined with Disillusionment, this isn’t too hard. Just wait till an enemy is turned the other way and sneak up behind them.

However, if you get all 4 Stealth Talents, then you’ll be an unstoppable stealth juggernaut. The two level 5 upgrades make it harder to be detected, while also allowing you to run while using Disillusionment. The level 16 talent makes it even harder for enemies to see you, but the level 22 upgrade allows you to take multiple foes down at once with one use of Petrificus Totalus.

Once you’ve got all 4 abilities, you can basically take out an entire camp without them seeing you, in a matter of minutes. Just cast Disillusionment, run in, and take down the foes before they know what’s happened.

The trophy is quite easy. Pump up the stealth branch and, if possible, when completing each task or clearing, remove as many enemies as possible by sneaking up from behind and pressing

I’ll just add that you don’t have to upgrade your stealth, the game is full of mobs

It is very convenient to make you invisible when you are walking along story corridors in some mine or cave. If you level up this skill, you can kill two at a time.

Combine this achievement with tasks; on quests, very often enemies stand alone and you can easily approach them from behind, as if they were specially made for stealth. You don't even have to farm. You don’t need to pump anything either, and you can do it that way.
