How to unlock the A Talent for Spending achievement in Hogwarts Legacy - Definitive Guide

The soonest you can get this achievement is right when you unlock the ability to spend talent points in the quest "Jackdaw's Rest"

If you played the game for long enough, and are at -or above- level 10, you just have to spend 5 of your hard-earned talent points and you'll unlock this achievement.

Note: There have been some reports of this achievement being bugged and not unlocking, if this is happening to you, try loading an old save and redoing the requirements.

I just spent 16 talent points and it’s only at 60%

Something weird is going on.

I saved having read this first. I got no progress, so reloaded my save right before upgrading. I then got 80% progress (updated 6 times). Rinse and repeated, and upon 2nd reload got the achievement. Progress only increased when reloading, never during upgrade.

Savvy Spencer is at 16% for me, which is correct as I've upgraded 6 times and you have 36 points total. My strong recommendation is to save before applying any points, and making sure savvy spender/this increase when you reload the sabe, then apply points again and save in a new slot.

I reloaded three times and can’t get the counter to go up more than 20%. Tried hard resetting the Xbox, too

Mine is bugged as well (stuck at 80%). I submitted a bug report but it was closed with no investigation due to lack of votes.

I had the same issue. I spent 8 points and the achievement didnt pop. I manually saved and then loaded the last auto save and the achievement popped instantly. Funny enough, it showed all my points to be spent again. So if you're having this issue just reload the last save after spending 5 points and it should work.

Once you reach the end of the “Jackdaw’s Rest” main quest (the 15th main quest), you’ll enter the Map Chamber, which in turn will unlock the “Talent Points” section of Hogwarts Legacy.

Every level from level 5, you’ll earn a Talent Point to spend - they are earned behind-the-scenes before you even get here, though. So, if you get here at level 10, you’ll already have 5 points to spend.

Talent Points can be spent on improving your main character across a series of disciplines:
  • Spells - which changes how some spells operate, for the better.
  • Dark Arts - which involves adding curse to dark spells and abilities.
  • Core - which boost spells and add more general options, like the much needed “Spell Sets.”
  • Stealth - which makes you harder to detect when using Disillusionment.
  • Room of Requirement - which boosts a variety of potions.
Spent 5 points and this achievement is yours.

The ability to spend talent points will open after your first visit to the cartography hall.
1 talent point is given by default, and then 1 per level, but only after reaching level 5.

You can get it almost immediately when you find the Cartography Hall. If you don't plan to learn unforgivable spells, this will save you a lot of talent points. I advise you to expand the panels for spells as quickly as possible, so that you have not 4 spells in quick access, but in the end all 16.

I recommend that you figure out in advance, at least theoretically, what you will download and what not, based on the information that we have a maximum of 35 talent points. The invisibility branch, IMHO, makes no sense to download if you are not good at stealth. There are a total of 48 talents to choose from.
