How to unlock the The Root of the Problem achievement in Hogwarts Legacy - Definitive Guide
Mandrake's (500) and Mandrake Seeds (800) can be purchased from the Dogweed & Deathcap in Hogsmeade. It's far cheaper to grow your own so I suggest buying the seeds. Mandrakes will grow in any sized pot and can be made early at the potting table in the Greenhouse.
Once you have some Mandrake's in your possession equip them by holding to open the equipment wheel. Once highlighted tapping will pull out a Mandrake to use in combat. This will stun all enemies around you, and as the achievement suggests you need to stun 10 different named enemies. There's two methods you can do this:
Method 1:
Gather 1x Mandrake and manual save before engaging a group of enemies. Use the Mandrake to stun the group. Then reload the save, fly to another group and repeat. Continually using the 1x Mandrake until you've stunned 10 different types.
Method 2:
Grow around 5x Mandrake's and take them into a Dark Arts Battle Arena. As each wave starts use the Mandrake to stun the 5 or more enemies each round. You should get the achievement on the 5th wave if the groups have been diverse enough.

I got it on the second round of the arena, it's just ten enemies in total.

Mandrakes can be purchased from merchants in Hogsmeade and around the open world. You can also grow them after purchasing the seeds in Hogsmeade and unlocking planters from Herbology Class and the Room of Requirement main quests. Equip them in your item wheel and head to any of the Battle Arenas and use them to stun enemies. It should only take a couple tries to cumulatively stun 10 different enemies.
In this video I will show you an easy way to grow mandrakes using the room of requirement. (10-20 mandrakes in 20 minutes)
Once you have some mandrakes just fast travel to the forbidden forest and stun ten enemies using the mandrakes.
(To clarify in the video you do not need the large plant potting table to grow mandrakes I just suggest you buy that because you can grow any plant on it.)

Mandrake is an incredibly useful tool in Hogwarts Legacy. This fairly rare - in the early game, at least - tool will stun everyone in your vicinity, making it absolutely essential if you start to get mobbed.
There are a few places you can get your hands on some Mandrake, allowing you to use it in combat - and thus, stun 10 enemies, and get this achievement.
Firstly, once you have access to the potting station in the greenhouse of Hogwarts, after completing the Herbology Class main mission (the 10th main mission), you can plant and grow a Mandrake there. For that you’ll need to buy the seeds from Dogweed and Deathcap in northern Hogsmeade. Then, when you have them, you can plant them in the greenhouse (empty the pot using the left click after you’ve inspected it to dispose of the Dittany). This method will create a batch of 3 every 10 minutes.
If you don’t have the patience to wait for them to grow, you can always buy ready-to-use Mandrakes from Leopold Babcocke’s Wander Shop - which moves around, but I always found him just west of the East North Ford Bog Floo Flame (just look for the coin icon out in the wilds). This is a far more expensive way to get the Mandrakes you need, but definitely quicker.
The achievement itself requires nothing special, apart from using it and stunning 10 enemies. Not at once, mind. Just 10. Cumulatively.

Mandrake can be found, bought in a store, or grown in the Room of Requirement.
To use it you need to be in the radial menu select the appropriate icon and use Mandrake during the battle while in proximity to the enemy.

If 10 pieces need to be filled in total, and not at the same time. And the enemies should be different (i.e. Wolves, spiders, etc.)

Mandrake is a wonderful plant, it allows you to knock down magic shields, I recommend using it in camps and arenas.
