How to unlock the Illumination achievement in Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition - Definitive Guide
This guy gave me trouble because… I suck. But he’s near the end of the City of Tears. He’s got a few moves and they’re generally pretty basic.
•He’ll teleport and shoot some tracking projectiles. They don’t turn too quick so they can be avoided. If you’re quick enough you can get in a hit while he does this.
•He does a slow horizontal dash across the ground that’s pretty easy to jump over and hit.
•He’ll float up and create some orbs that rotate around him while he goes horizontally across the screen then back. This isn’t too bad to dodge. Maybe a bit difficult to hit him during this though.
•He also does a teleport above you and slam move that releases shockeays you have to jump over. So dash to the side to get away from his slam and then immediately jump to get over the waves. Every once in a while he’ll do a takeout and actually not slam for a split second, then slam again. This is the part that frustrated me. This attack isn’t really punishable either. There’s no window to attack him.
After getting in enough damage, he’ll kinda deflate and give you a chance to heal. If you’re full, you can use this chance to get in an extra hit.
After hitting him some more, he’ll crash through the floor and when you follow him you’ll start his second phase. It’s essentially the same as his first. His slam down doesn’t make waves, but he does it a ton and a bit faster. He also will still teleport and shoot at you. That’s really all he does on this phase.
Good luck!
