As you make your way through Greenpath, talk to the Hunter and he will give you the Hunter's Journal:

You can access the journal from the menus by pressing

. Each time you kill an enemy, its entry is added to the journal. Once you kill an enemy a predetermined amount of times, you unlock the Hunter's notes on that enemy, For this achievement, you simply need to kill each enemy one time so it is added to the journal, but in order to receive the Hunter's Mark for the True Hunter achievement you must unlock all of the Hunter's notes.

There are numerous enemies that are not actually required for this achievement, likely because they were added as DLC in the PC version of the game. The following images shows the 150 entries I had when the achievement popped on my alt account that I used when I wrote the site walkthrough:

Compare your journal to mine to see what you're missing. If you need help finding specific enemies, look them up in the Hollow Knight wiki.

If anyone is having trouble with the Trial of the Fool and God Tamer entry, head to Godhome and play through and complete Round 4 of the 3rd pantheon. It'll be there if you want this achievement without failing repeatedly on the Trial.

Can someone please help me!? I have 158 encountered 158 completed then the 159 next to those numbers I've looked thru this list and everything AND more and still hunter says your books grown fat seek out those last few rare bugs. Anyone have advice?

This is more of a warning than Advice. If you get the Void heart it incapacitates the Void tentacles so if like me you didn't get hit by one then it will never register in the journal. Have to start a new game. Void heart also renders Kings soul useless making Coliseum Harder if you used it there like I did. Void Heart cant be unequipped, Basically Breaking the best Charm in the game. Bravo!

Regarding NuclearNyborg's comment, this is incorrect. You can get the Void Tendrils entry by examining a fossilized tendril near where you get the Shade Cloak power-up. I'm stuck at 157/158, just going through the Pantheons now just incase they count (but they shouldn't). I have everything in the screenshots above, even Void Tentacles (I picked this up from the Fossilized Tendril).

Also haven't actually beaten Radiance yet, was saving that for when I hit 112%, but according to the above, she shouldn't count either.

Edit: Nevermind, seems I'm missing Pale Lurker, was too excited after beating Fools I must have missed that part of the guide ;)

@LuisTel2000 Under your hunters journal it’ll tell you the enemies name and how many you have left to kill to get the hunters note. And at the bottom left of the journal it’ll tell you how many you have encountered and completed. However, I’m not sure when exactly you are able to view that information.

You have to access the Black Egg Temple and inspect the tablet next to the bench. From that point onwards you'll see your enemies encountered and completed counts.

I was sitting at 162/163 and I was checking the hollow knight wiki to figure out missing enemies when I came across your comment and the pale lurker wasn't even mentioned in their enemy list. Thank you Musha 🙂

Thank you so much for the screenshots! I was able to find the 2 I was missing.

I can confirm that I did not need any of these to unlock the trophy (I'm playing on PS4 but it should be the same on Xbox)

Unlocked the achievement today at 156 entries and the last entry that I needed was the Void Tendrils. A pretty well hidden and tricky entry, that can easily be missed, in my eyes. Here's a video on how to get it:
