In phases 2 onwards (i.e. after you've staggered her once), she starts to summon the spikes in the arena. As this is a fight where you need to be highly mobile, the spikes are a real pain as need to be hit away.
My tactic was to stay in the corner on one side for phases 2 until the end. She will either dash along the ground or throw her needle - both easily dodged by jumping up. However, more often than not she will perform the diagonal dash through the air to your corner and you can jump upwards and pogo (down slash) on her head for successive hits. Sometimes she then throws the needle from the corner allowing you to keep pogo'ing. You'll take some damage now and again as might miss dodging her diagonal dash attack - but this was a quick method to get enough damage on her. Add in vengeful spirit hits when she's on the opposite side of the room and you'll get her in no time.
