How to unlock the Strength achievement in Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition - Definitive Guide
The Failed Champion is the dream version of the Fallen Knight, the first Boss you fight.
Return to the boss room in the Forgotten Crossroads and jump up to where the boss was, before you broke through the floor.
You will find the maggot there and you can hit it with your dreamnail.
In the dream the bosses patterns arent very different from his normal version.
As this is a dream you can use your fragile charms without them breaking on death, so use "Fragile Heart" and "Fragile Strength" to make things easier for you.
Also level up your nail as much as you can before and you should be fine!

I don't know if I'm the first, but I found a fairly easy strat for this boss that needs minimal dodging if you're endgame.
If you need help locating this boss, the other guide has done a brill job of that so give them a thumbs up.
Also, if there is anything in this guide you aren't aware of, the Hollow Knight wiki is a great resource to fill the gaps
First, get
- Max Nail/Damage
- Max Life (Mask Shells)
- Max(?) Notches (10)
Then you want to equip these charms:
- Fragile Strength (since this is a dream fight, there's no risk of breakage)
- Quick Slash
- Stalwart Shell
- Lifeblood Heart OR Fragile Heart
Now, for the fight itself, you are mostly just spamming attack and moving the stick so you stay in range. You can just about tank your way through at that amount of life + stalwart she'll with the amount of DPS you can do.
It took me 2 or 3 attempts with this build, after struggling to get past the first phase in previous attempts.
Some additional notes
- The boss' hits do 2 hits of damage but the falling stones do 1 hit
- You should have enough soul by the 3rd or 4th down to pop a heal, you will almost definitely need this
- The attacks worth dodging are the falling rocks whilst the boss is down/stunned and where the boss does a large jump and slam (dash under them to the other side). If you're lucky, the first phase he will repeatedly do the slow/large jump and you can get through undamaged fairly easily, though this didn't happen on my run so there's definitely some room for error
Hope this helps someone :)
