How to unlock the It's a trap! achievement in Homefront: The Revolution - Definitive Guide
I had lots of trouble with this during the campaign so as I played through the dlc's I found the perfect spot. So if you have the dlc you're in luck. Load up the beyond the walls campaign and right after you talk to parrish some seekers will attack. go to the place you would go to get the cooking with gas achievement and on both sides will be the barrel traps, shoot them to release them. once released on both sides reload the checkpoint and repeat. may take a few tries to get the timing down as these barrels explode a lot faster than in the campaign.

This method works.. but in order to save any progress on what you have destroyed or killed, you have to checkpoint after the fight and start new game again.. use the achievement tracker to see if you're making progress.. start a new game, time and release the traps, check achievement tracker, got kills? checkpoint it, no kills? just restart the checkpoint.. it took me about 15 -20 minutes to unlock this annoying achievement after I found out that you need to checkpoint your kills

Probably important to note that if you had any progress towards this achievement that it may well reset, but if you stick with this method it will eventually make progress and you can unlock your achievement.
I previously had 50% towards this before using this method and it reset my progress to 40% before rising to eventually unlock the achievement. +1 from me

This one is not difficult, once you find the right spot. I completed it in Old Town, near the Ruined Hospital strikepoint. There is a small outbuilding that allows you access to the roof. From the roof, looking back towards the hospital, there is an open area with a spring barrel trap. Simply hang out up top and wait for patrols to walk across the trap, then shoot the barrel with a silenced weapon. It's extremely boring, so have some fun with some fireworks or something. Not fancy, but gets the job done when trying to wrap up the missing few kills needed.
It was so hard to find a good spot to get this achievement, but I found that it can very easily be done during the "Zero Hour" mission close to the middle of the game. There are two barrel traps
After you get the kills, you have to hard reboot your xbox. For some reason the game resets the progress progress you made on this achievement if you die or restart checkpoint, and although it'll save if you quit to menu or out of the game, it won't continue to count if you reload in. I averaged about 1-2 barrel kills per attempt. This way may take a good while depending on your luck, but it's the most reliable way I've found to get the trap kills, and the easiest.

This is the strategy I used, and although the game seemed to be particular about registering kills, I managed it without having to reboot my xbox. I tried to hang back behind the barricade and shoot the barrel traps to release them (I was playing on Deathwish) and it wasn't until I physically released the traps and then shot them that the last four kills registered.

This one was highly annoying for me. The enemies just didn't want to stand under the barrels, even if I tried the distraction gadget on them. Anyway, finally found a decent spot on the Holloway map. The apartments circling the 'Resistance IED Workshop' strike point have at least three barrel locations you can use, and the search zeppelin comes by there are well. Try to get at least one guy each time, then save your game and reload it to reset the barrels for another attempt.
One more tidbit: the red barrels will fall down and then explode by themselves after 3-5 seconds; you don't need to shoot them or anything.

Very annoying achievement if you do not find a good spot to farm. I found one at the beginning of the game, during the "Hack Job" mission. In the part where you should get the motorcycle, just leave the building and go left, at the street corner has a trap and some enemies around, catch their attention and when they are on the ramp, shoot the barrel to trigger it. Try to eliminate at least one enemy by attempting. Load the checkpoint and repeat until you get the achievement. Good Luck!
Just look for the red barrels hanging out window or rooftops and wait for some enemies to show hit the level on it with x button it will light the barrels on fire then when it is close to them shoot the barrels to make them explode quicker. I found out if you shoot them it counts towards your achievement don't let them explode bye itself because it didn't count towards it
There are 2 kind of traps in the game:
The first time you will encounter a trap is in the mission "In at the Deep End". However these kind of traps are really useless. Plus they can be used only once.
Focus on the other traps:
You will need to launch a firecracker on this trap, wait for some soldiers to walk on the trap and then shoot at the exploding barrel. You can use this trap as long as you want. There is a good place to farm this trophy in the last Red Zone of the game, Old Town. You will spawn on a roof, and behind it is a road with a trap like this one.

Resistance traps mean red barrels that can be dropped on KPA soldiers from the roofs of buildings, if somehow you were unable to get them for completing the story (like me), then you can try to boost them in the red zones, as an option I found a place with two such barrels on two neighboring buildings in the Pawnshop location - Abandoned Warehouse.
The only caveat is that when they are activated and then die, they are not replenished again - you can exit to the game menu and click continue - then the barrels will be in place again.
Long and tedious. Video guide , but at least it shows where these barrels are, the point on the map where to go at 00:15.

Best done in the Zero Hour mission, like setting 5 enemies on fire with one molotov. There is little space and two traps at your disposal. Activated, waited for the explosion or helped by shooting the barrels, died and a new one until it falls out .
Outside of the plot, it is a very thankless task to knock out. Enemies immediately run away from the barrels, and practically no enemy attacks ground traps, no matter how hard you lure them, unless they might step on you while patrolling.
The trophy itself is cumulative, its progress is saved regardless of saving the game.
