How to unlock the Oh a piece of candy! achievement in Homefront: The Revolution - Definitive Guide

Achievement:
Oh A Piece Of Candy (Distract 30 KPA from their guard posts in yellow zone without being detected.)

Location:
Ashgate Yellow Zone

Description:
Hello everyone. In this video you will see that this achievement is 100% farmable on a single guard while knowing exactly what needs to happen in order to successfully distract a KPA officer and have it count towards your achievement progress. Also, the best thing to do is to snap your achievement app to the right side and then click into this achievement, move it to the top of the list and press B once so you can always keep an eye on the progress bar.

So we are starting up north by the only Market Stall in the area so that is probably the best landmark I could use as a starting point. You will see me move to a pile of bricks and the best part about this is that we have an infinite supply of bricks unlike the other 3 spawns nearby.

My first distraction is just to show you exactly what to look for. So I ran up to the street level and just below we see our mark. I tossed a brick to the right side of the planter, he investigates it and eventually makes his way back to his post. Your Progress Bar should fill up just as he reaches the red door, right before he does his 90 degrees turn to the left and begins to stand still.

So after the detailed attempt you will begin to see me take the underpass route multiple times and you will also see that there is no need to crouch or worry about those traitors who are constantly walking by and talking trash. Each time I get to the spot you will see me aim higher up on the black line where the 1st and 2nd security fence connect. Aim there, let your brick ricochet off the wall, to the planter and then skim on the ground. The KPA guard will then walk passed the planter, look around and then return to his post. I always begin to run back for another brick the moment I see my achievement progress bar go up.

This achievement is a little picky and with this method I tend to get it to count 9 times out of 10 if for some reason he doesn't walk far enough to investigate, it simply would not count.

I also tried a faster method of throwing the brick and running back for another brick as soon as I saw him moving but I never got them to count. My guess is that he instantly resets into his original position the moment I exited the underpass. You would notice spawn resets right at the start of the video. If you were to keep going straight instead of going left for the bricks you would see an opportunity to rescue a civilian from a KPA guard. These tend to reset every time I would run back to the market stall.

There is also a big Heavy KPA just across the street who also happens to be guarding a door. That guy just flat out sucks. I only ever got him to count once out of 12 attempts. He walks pretty far away from his door, gets back and nothing.

Even easier method is to just throw the brick next to the cover to the side of that guard and just keep picking it up and re-throwing it, that's how I got it, from 0/50 to 50/50 :)

Damn, I heard that there was an update that made bricks vanish. I'll have to check because I think someone replied to my YouTube saying so.

I don't see any brick being thrown, might want to update that this might not work anymore.

The Restriction Zone counts as a Yellow Zone btw.

I had already liberated all other Yellow Zones, so I was afraid that I couldn't get it anymore in that playthrough. I simply got onto a roof and threw firecrackers over a stronghold wall. They couldn't get through the wall and I distracted 5 guards at once each time.

Since the update, you have to throw the brick where you picked it up, if you move from the position where you took the brick, it will disappear when you throw it. It seems to work on the heavy guy too.

I was able to get these to count in the restricted zone near the end of the game. I guess it still counts as a yellow zone even though it isn't marked as one on the map.

like Skate 323 commented above the Restricted zone works for this achievement. I also got this one in this area and used bricks to distract the same heavy guard over and over again.

Confirmed, post-patch this no longer works. Bricks vanish when you try to throw them if you've moved too far away from where you picked them up.

The Ashgate Yellow zone solutions seem to be glitched from the latest patch so I tried Earlston Yellow zone which is the first yellow zone you reach outside the tutorial missions. Go forward once you arrive and to the left next to the Willows building will be a lookout tower with a KPA inside. Below him to the right will be a KPA soldier standing guard by a door. Bricks in this area don't seem to disappear like in Ashgate so feel free to toss them at the wall between both soldiers to get 2 at a time. The fastest way to do this if brick throwing isn't one of your favorite past times is to hide behind the sheetmetal wall in front of the door guard and keep standing and crouching. Don't go too fast, just long enough for the meter to appear then crouch until its gone and repeat. (Thanks to Draco719 for finding out the crouch method).

Couldn't get the crouching to work. Bricks also disappeared but I ran around the area to find more. Have to throw it from far enough away not to set off the enemies but it eventually worked.

I know the solution says the best portion of the city to get this achievement is Ashgate but by the time I read it I had already cleared it out 100% so if like me you've completed this map and is wondering if there's another location further on where you can get this achievement I can tell you I managed to unlock this one in the Restricted area, the last map before the point of no return. I used bricks to distract the same guard over and over again. Btw I used a heavy guard for this and it worked perfectly, perhaps after the last update any guard count for this, either regular or heavy. Good luck!

I was able to get this in Ashton and I didn't even have to use any bricks or distraction devices. Just allow a standing guard to spot you and then hide. I crouched behind a planter right in front of a dude standing guard. I would stand up, let the guard spot me, and then crouch again.

Yours is the quickest solution, yet has no votes. Works and can get this achievement in 2 minutes or less.

I could not get this to work, but then...

I bought the perk for guards noticing me more slowly when standing still. Then I got the guard looking at me long enough without setting the alarm off but he still managed to move from his position a bit.

Can confirm the effective of this achievement. I was also in Ashgate, and it took me about a minute to farm the last 50% I needed.

Okay first off I'll tell you something no one else has, Heavy's don't count for this. If you're doing this is Ashgate like I was, most of the posts are covered by Heavy's and no matter how many times they walk off to go check something and come back, it won't count, they're douchecanoes. I tried it over 50 times, cleared my cache tried it again all with bricks and the distraction bombs and nothing but 0% forever, so they suck kill them for the killing heavy's achievement and feel a sadistic glee fill you as you do so.

Anyways, onto the actual solution.

I had already obtained the transmitter in the area which prevented me from being able to farm as shown by the video Nico8912 posted in his solution, instead I went about trying to get it by following the video in Son ALA's solution instead.
This area worked fine, however there's a faster way to get it than what is shown in the video. Watch the video know where that brick pack is, and where you're going, follow the route it takes around 1:50-2:00 minute mark to get to the guard more quickly from the bricks. You don't want to ever take the upper route which is shown at the start, because it's a pain with all the vehicles that drive about wanting you dead.
Anyways, as you see at 2:08 there are 3 large planters on the right hand side, there's one right next to the guard which is the one furthest away, you'll want to be behind the second one. Step beside it and throw the brick at the wall of the planter next to the guard, then get behind your planter. The guard will walk around the planter look around, then walk back to his post. When he starts to walk back to his post, you should walk over and pick up the brick then move back to your planter.
If you stay crouched the whole time you're doing this, you won't be seen and when he starts to walk off you'll be able to walk up to the brick and get back without him noticing you as well, you'll be able to pick it up and already be walking back before he even turns around back at his post.
The only thing to point out is sometimes there is a flying bot down there, you'll have to wait for it to fly off before you start doing it or obviously, it will spot you, just to ruin your day.

For those who don't want to go to Son ALA's solution for the video here it is:

Props for The Zen Ninja for making the video, whoever that is. And props for Son ALA for posting it in the first place.

UPDATED 2/23/24

I found an easy solution to get this achievement. A guard is in a doorway and a respawning brick is only a few feet. away. I grinded 44 of the 50 here in under an hour. Hope this helps!

This trophy can be missed if you complete all Yellow areas.

For this trophy, you will need to distract any guard with bricks. (Firecrackers don't seem to work). First you need to find a soldier guarding a door on a Yellow zone. Then you have to find some bricks and launch them to distract him. You can boost this trophy with the same soldier.

If he spots you, don't kill him, just run and hide somewhere. That way you will be able to distract him again after.

One of the easier ways to do it is in the first Yellow Zone, Earlston. Once you arrived in the zone, there will be a soldier guarding a door, and a market full of bricks. See this video for an example:

This trophy is fairly simple, and can be obtained as early as Earlston Yellow Zone. You can either use Firecrackers near KPA forces, or silently take them out from a distance.

I recommend equipping a Crossbow with a 4x Scope, and snipe KPA troops near guard posts. A good example is the Fuel Depot - climb the northwest building close to the fuel depot where the gantry walkway is, crouch and take out some enemies on the stairs/shoot bolts near the area.

Rinse and repeat 30x times.

I never used firecrackers during the whole game, I only learned about bricks towards the end, as a result, apparently, any noise you create on the map to which enemies flock is considered to be “distracting enemies”. They shot, attacked, hid in a container, etc.

We throw firecrackers in the opposite direction from the KPA fighter, he goes to check what happened and we run behind his back (ideally) and so on 30 times!
Get it without worrying when you work on the rest of the trophies

It’s easier and cheaper to distract with bricks when you get into the yellow zone, after the first red one, you will find yourself in a shelter, when you leave it there will be a market in front of you, where there are a lot of bricks lying around, and nearby there is a Chukchi on guard who is ready to be “distracted.”
