How to unlock the Iron Man - Golden Gate achievement in Homefront - Definitive Guide
Awarded for completing Chapter 7 without dying or restarting any checkpoints.
Some tips for all stages:
- Difficulty does not matter, so you're better off playing on easy.
- Use cover! Most of the environment is indestructible, everything from airplane parts to wood crates, use that to your advantage, and heal when you've taken some damage.
- Take it slow! In most parts of the game (if not all - there's at least one spot I'm just not sure of), there is a set number of enemies, no unlimited spawning like Black Ops, so there's no pressure to make it up to a certain area. Take your time and pick guys off from a distance. Your team will usually run ahead of you when an area has been cleared. Whey they get to the next area, they may take out a few of the enemies or, at the very least, help show you where the enemies are ... BUT ...
- Your team AI isn't always great. Enemies will sometimes run right by them and come after you. Your team can't be killed, which is a huge plus, but always stay on your toes!
- Watch out for the grenade indicator. There isn't a 'throw back' option like in other games, so your only choice is to get out of there!
Possible Issues with Stage 7: (minor spoilers)
- When you start out in the chopper, your supply of grenades for the launcher is unlimited, so have fun! =) Once you leave the bridge support and approach the landing zone they count though, so use sparingly.
- The tank almost killed me a couple times, be sure to stick to cover. Following Connor, the first room you enter has a couple enemies in it, but more coming in, if you're quick you can just target the door and pick them off as they enter. Once you have the RPG, you're not out of trouble, the tank will still take shots at you. I took 1 shot out the window, and then left the building to the my right. Pop out, shoot, and hide again until the tank is done.
- The climb up the bridge is long and tedious, just take your time, watch your corners, and let Connor scout ahead.
- Once you're up top and you've cleared out the first checkpoint, the convoy starts moving. You've got all kinds of teammates and several light armour vehicles helping you, let them do the work, hang back, pick guys off from a distance, and don't get ahead of the convoy.
- When you get knocked off the bridge, walk foward just enough to trigger the chopper coming down (don't go up the ramp), then go prone. The shots from the chopper will pass just above you, once they've stopped pop up and take out the soliders it dropped (3 I think). The chopper will appear 1 more time as you walk under the bridge, as you're moving parallel with the direction of the bridge. Someone on the radio says it's heading down below again. There should be cover there, just go prone and wait it to pass again.
- Be careful walking across the support beams, to come all this way and die by falling off a ledge would be very upsetting =(
- Once you're on the platform with the guns and waiting for Hopper to do his thing, watch out for grenades. Also there's an RPG on the tower up to the left, try to take him out asap. I don't know if the trigger for this part is a set time, or a number of enemies killed (anyone confirm?), seemed the time a little different each playthrough though.
- When you have control of the UAV (they call it something else, forget what, sorry), they do mark your location, I didn't actually try it but I would image it IS possible to kill yourself (anyone confirm?) . Just focus on the vehicles, shouldn't be a problem.
- Final Goliath - it doesn't matter how good your shooting is, it will survive until you get to the tanker truck. The key is for YOU to survive that long too (my first time going for this achievement, this is where I died, I was not amused). You need to use the counter measures (Press A) to avoid the attacks. Lights flash when it has a lock, but I found there wasn't a lot of warning. I pretty much just deployed them whenever they were ready, which was quite often as the recharge time was fairly quick. I still took some damage, but I made it.

When attempting to obtain the RPG, be careful when you try to enter the doorway. I was killed by a guy firing the rpg at the doorway when I entered that building and had to start over. If you still have any grenades or the grenade launcher, have them ready.

I died at that god damn final goliath spot too, literately at the bus where you kill it, my humvee like slowly fell off the bridge and I was in disbelief and shut my xbox off.

Iron Man - Golden Gate: You must complete Chapter 7 without dying or resetting a checkpoint.
Basically, beat the last level without dying or restarting your checkpoints. Put the game on easy difficulty (you do this in the menu by going to Options>Game Settings>Campaign Difficulty.)
This is pretty easy, just use cover and stay back. Don't play too offensively. It will help you massively if you have played through this level on Guerrilla, that way you'll know how hard it can be and where to be extra cautious.
One thing that really helped me was the Scar LMG that I found. You can find it after you exit the helicopter and you're on foot. Instantly go to the house to your right from where you are dropped off and go up the makeshift stairwell/ramp to the upstairs and check near the front window. You should see a red/orange Scar with a huge clip sitting there. I kept this throughout the entire level as it is amazing.
Other than that, just be cautious of grenades and don't get cocky. Watch out for the helicopter portion of the level, you need to be very cautious of where it is because it will kill you pretty quick even on easy.
Good luck!

Nice guide, but you forgot the one biggest issue; the final part involving the battle with the Goliath. Most people end up screwing up that part. People should practice the Goliath section a couple times to get the hang of it then do the level. It's disappointing to fail it because this level can't be run through, so it'll take a minimum of 30 minutes to get back to the Goliath section.

I also used that LMG, maybe it's just me but I find the one with the ACOG scope is the best.

These can be done on any difficulty so I recommend trying for them on easy. Take your time. Watch out for frag grenades and RPG's as these are instant kills. Take cover to allow your health to fully recover, which only takes 3-4 seconds. Your AI teammates, once again, come in handy for this as well. Quitting to dashboard or starting from the final checkpoint in the level voids these achievements - they must be done start to finish.

To win this prize you need to select the settings item, then the game settings and select the difficulty, set it to easy and play, but you need to do this not in the game, but in the game menu. Yes, and I’ll give you one more hint: when you fight with the goliath, shoot and when he shoot click after goliath you will receive a prize .
