How to unlock the King of the city achievement in HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED - Definitive Guide
If you're looking for a guide on this one then like me you're probably struggling with the time trials, for the regular races you should be able to blaze through those by setting the AI to easy and choosing a good car (I've found that the cars shaped like regular cars tend to be the best).
Now the Time Trials.
If you're anything like me then your eyes are probably permanently glued to the tracks so you may not even consider that short-cuts are an option, However for some of the later trials it's basically required that you go on some off track adventures.
I used these videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUtl3OCbyQ0-f5Nwd0Ub8...
I did not make these, I just found them helpful so full credit to TwinDrags [F1DJ] on YouTube.
My recommendation would be to try the trial once or twice before looking at the video so that you understand the layout of the track before you start breaking it. Not all of the Short cuts in the videos are required to beat the trial so if you can't pull of all off the crazy moves then you should be able to skip them.

LOLOL Bro! This is not only one of the worst racing games I've ever played but you literally can't beat the time trials without shortcut guides. I hate when achievements that should be skill based just aren't because it is (Quite Literally) impossible..
I kind of expected the game to be fairish seeing as it's catered to kids, guess not..

should be pointedout that some shortcuts don't work anymore. For instnce "speed vault" has two methods... falling off the loop-da-loop or ramping off the first jump. A checkpoint was added so that you can't do either of those anymore.

Wanted to add up on the good guide Kyle Thee Scott wrote.
I was able to get all the time trials unleashed goals without using any shortcut.
I used the Superman car from one of the DLC (free with Gamepass) after upgrading it to Legendary. It fast, it accelerated quickly and it has four boost charges.
The way I handled the races were like the horse races in Zelda: always keep an orb for trouble. Use the three others as you will.
Couple tricks I kept in mind (might seem obvious but here goes):

Couple tricks I kept in mind (might seem obvious but here goes):
- When you need to choose between passing a boost pad, a green stripe speed boost or a charging gray strip, always go for charging. Boost is better in my opinion
- You can sometimes it both a green boost strip and a purple boost pad. Your wheels don't have to be all on it to work. As soon as two are, you're good. Take that to your advantage and get both boosts!
- When going on a long green boost strip, don't be shy to boost as well. You'll go even faster and gain some previous seconds.
- Not every turn has to be drifted. Sketchy no-wall-to-save-you turns are better got your time with a little less boost fuel but no reset :)
- On long drifts and/or super steep ones, boost while drifting. It helps with the momentum and car control.
- If you struggle with a turn, hug the wall and boost
- As you enter a loop, boost. You'll lose speed going up and you can't lose time.
- Always land on your wheels using the two thumbsticks to reposition. You don't realize how bad a landing could be until it screws your run.
- In the volcano section, try to keep in the center for two reasons: some pressure stones are actually in the track and could make you fall and the finish line is wonky at best.
- If you feel you'll fall, lose control or hit something bad, reset your position with Y right away and boost as soon as possible.
- For the spiders, boost as it shoots. It's a sniper that will get you too often. Staying close to the right side helped me avoiding some because it shots out of bounds.
- When going off road, make sure you are in the cones when crossing a checkpoint or it will revert. If you mised one and have a good time, press Y, the reset will most often place you right before the checkpoint mark.
- On lap based trials, if you've already completed the normal goal and are about to miss the unleashed one, keep going and save your boosts. You'll start a new lap with an edge
- Don't give up, it's doable :)

Unleashed goals are bonus requirements found in quick races and time attack events in the Hot Wheels City Rumble mode. The unleashed goals are always the same for these events. For quick races the unleashed goal is always simply to win the race and for time attacks the unleashed goal is always to beat the best time. This is the most difficult trophy in the game, because whilst winning every race is simple enough and shouldn't cause any trouble for most people, beating the best time in the time attacks can be a lot tougher. Whilst I personally didn't find too many of the time attacks all that difficult, if you're not used to driving games you may find some of these really tough. The leniency can vary quite a bit, with some of the time attacks capable of being completed with 5 or 6 seconds to spare whilst others are really tight. If you're struggling with any in particular then your best bet is to search YouTube for strategies and solutions from other players. Some of the tracks have shortcuts that you need to take in order to beat the set time, so it's worth taking the time to research the best routes if you're struggling.
