Hotshot Racing

This can be combined with the "Come 1st in an Arcade Race" (obviously).

From the Main Menu, select "Single Race", then make sure "Arcade" is the game type selected. Select Normal difficulty. The track/lap/driver/vehicle is your preference, but I recommend a simple track with few curves. You can do this with the 3 lap minimum race, but depending on your skill, 4 laps may be needed to ensure you can maintain 1st place.

As soon as the race starts, get to 1st place as fast as you can, which shouldn't be too hard on Normal. From 1st, you can either hit the first checkpoint to give yourself more time, or slam on your breaks to fall back to 8th place. Either way, you need to fall back behind every other racer. Once you've confirmed you're in 8th, drive/drift your way back up to 1st place before the race ends. This is very easy to do on Normal as long as you maintain a decent drift-to-boost ratio. Always aim to save a lot of boost until the end of the race to use coming out of the turn before the finish line. The achievement should pop very shortly after crossing the finish line.

Start a Arcade single race and keep the difficulty on Normal. Get a boost off the start by holding your throttle in the yellow to easily and quickly take 1st place. Now brake and let everyone pass. Finally, race like normal to retake 1st place and win the race. Increase the number of laps if you are having difficulty.
