Story related.
After talking to the guy on the beach at the start, he'll ask you to find his friend on the East beach. He'll in turn ask you to fetch some gasoline, which is in the North-West (pick up the Gerry-can and then use the big Fuel-tank next to the safe house to fill it up). After you get back to the guy on the East beach, you can then use your machete to hack through the bushes (or a flame torch to burn them down) in the top North-East corner and work your way around the top of the island until you find Korvac. He'll then take you on his boat to La Vendida. Achievement unlocked!

Story related, cannot be missed.
You'll do a few quests on Los Riscos (starting island) before being told to head to the northern part of the island where you'll see Kovac on a hill and have to talk to him. He'll tell you to board the boat at the northern dock to proceed to his island. Board the boat and the achievement will unlock.
