Each character has 50 tokens spread out over the island to collect. As you approach them you will start to hear a high pitched noise the closer you are to the token. Luckily, once you have collected 40 of the 50 you can press to open up the map and the remaining 10 will show up looking like coins. Once you have found Barf & Belch’s 50 tokens you will unlock the ability to shoot a large projectile when shooting an aimed fireball (holding ) which can hit multiple riders at once.

This upgrade is needed for Flamethrower.
