Each character has 50 coins that can be collected to unlock that character's hidden trait. After you collect 40 of the 50 coins, the rest of the coins will show up on the map (access by pressing Back).
Collect Meatlug's 50 coins and this achievement will unlock.

Each character has 50 tokens spread out over the island to collect. As you approach them you will start to hear a high pitched noise the closer you are to the token. Luckily, once you have collected 40 of the 50 you can press 
to open up the map and the remaining 10 will show up looking like coins. Once you have found Meatlug's 50 tokens you will unlock the ability for your lava fireballs to split off upon impact and hit nearby riders.
This upgrade is needed for Lava Blaster.
