How to unlock the Surfer achievement in Human Fall Flat - Definitive Guide

In the Water level

Once you reach the top the mountain from using the lift you'll need to take the chain and attach it to the lift. Then send the lift back down and it will break the dam. After you're done with that head for the orange raft. Give it a slight nudge and climb on being careful not to touch the water. Stand in the middle of the raft and look down, extend your arms and grab the raft. This way you can stay planted as the raft moves and also kind of 'steer' it. As long as you're careful to not tip the raft over you should be fine, And by the time you reach the end the achievement will pop very quickly.

If you need to restart
Restart the level from the beginning. Make your way across the water to where the end of the level tank is. Climb on top of it by swinging your arms from side to side grabbing further every time. Once you're up, make your way to the top of the mountain by running up the path where the dam water flows. Now just repeat the puzzle above.

By the way, if you DO need to get this from the beginning of the level, and you can't do UtG Mist's shortcut, here's an easier one:

When you're in the rowboat, on your way to the cargo ship, there will be a shore on the left with the speed boat. Go past that and through the rock arch and start looking on the left in the dark brown rocks. Eventually, you'll see a little inlet and the later part of the level with the lift.

If you jump off the boat and go into this inlet, you'll find it's shallow enough that you can jump around and keep from drowning. Move to the left and up the small sandy shore. Turn the camera right and you'll see you're right at the lift.

A little easier than wall-climbing, in my opinion. laugh

You don't need to restart. If you see you've touched water, just click last checkpoint, and it'll put you at the point before the dam breaks. You can only do this if you can click load checkpoint before getting to the bottom.

My raft turned upside down before the end. I stayed holding on and the achievement still popped. Maybe I was just lucky but if it's not going well it might still pop if you hang in there.

I didn't get this the first run through so I replayed it but I didn't go through the whole level, I just cheesed to the bottom of the slope the water runs down and climbed up the dry riverbed, broke the fence at the top with the cable car, then rode the raft down. Also a handy shortcut to the end of the level.

My raft flipped like two seconds before the end, right there at the little drop. Kept holding onto the raft, and a couple seconds later, the achievement unlocked for me as well. I'm wondering, with the delay I've been having with the achievements on this game, is that as long as you get to that little drop off before the end, it counts. I'm not 100% for sure. But it popped the first time I attempted it.

I went down completely under water and the achievement popped at the bottom. It seems like you just need to be holding the raft while going down.

I can confirm that you can flip the floater and get wet, just make sure to hang on with both hands.

confirmed. I had so much debris that I kept dipping under water, was all twisted up from my guy spinning in circles, and it still popped at the bottom. AllOvaMyself has mentioned a good shortcut to get to the top too.

This worked well for me, although the debris from the dam wouldn't move from where it collapses, and so blocks the path down the water, until i stood on the platform above and watched it washed away down the river. Whenever i attached it to the cable car then headed straight to the raft, the river was blocked with wood every time when i got to it

I got it on the first try. Thank you for the tips!

Looks like it's more "Don't get submerged" instead of "Don't get wet" because I didn't let go of the raft until I carried it ashore at the bottom and I got the achievement even though it had flipped and everything except my hands and head went underwater.

Finally got it after multiple tries and a stint where the game stopped tracking Achievements.

Heads up, I found an easier and faster way to get from the start of the level up to the dam that doesn't require the swinging method or a tedious rowboat trip. From the start, take the rowboat over to the speedboat, aiming for the wall that separates that beach from the waterwheel. Drag the rowboat next to the wall (on the speedboat side) and as far up the beach as possible. You should get it far enough that you can then climb onto the bow of the rowboat and just jump, grab, and pull yourself onto the wall, then just walk along it until you get to the riverbed/end-of-level part (climbing up wall sections as necessary) until you reach the cable car, then proceed through the level as normal.

I kept getting stuck on those stupid wood planks. I wasn't sure if getting off of the raft would void the achievement, but I jumped onto those planks, pulled the raft off, and rode my way to a quick 30 GS laugh
