How to unlock the Zipline achievement in Human Fall Flat - Definitive Guide

Done in the Castle level

First, you'll have to make your way on top of the building behind the brick wall to the left of the first courtyard. There is no easy way to get up there, i.e. places that you can jump on normally, so you'll have to jump as high as you can onto the flattest wall available and swing yourself up, arm by arm. Once on top notice the tower in front of you, on the left side wall of the tower you will see some small platforms to which you can jump on but be careful as you're sure to fall off frequently. The platforms spiral up until you reach the very top of the tower. Once at the top there is a hole in the roof, jump inside. There you will find a crook (pole shaped like a candy cane). Take the crook and hook it onto the roof you just fell through. Now walk carefully out of the Broken barred window and go to the left and jump back onto the platforms near the top. Once at the top again grab the crook and pull it up. After you pull it up, position it so the hook goes to the left and grab as close to the bottom as you can. Now lift the crook up and walk towards the edge and the zip line. Get as close to the edge as possible and grab the zip line with the hook. Once you're sure the hook is safely around the wire, go ahead and jump off! Now, you don't have to make it to the end of the zip line. I got caught on the house and was still very quickly rewarded with the achievement!

Had to use the below method for the initial part, but your video helped me the rest of the way! Thanks!

this is the most frustrating cheevo that I came across in ages, tried for 2 hours and I always fell down at the very last bit before the top of the tower...

The parts that the video show are good, but why do you not show how you got on the roof in the beginning if its that hard? Big oversight.

Awesome guide. Dropped the hook over the edge by accident though. Turns out you can stilll get cheevo by climbing hand over hand on the zip. Just keep going for a few meters

An easier way to get on the roof is to use the catapult from the beginning. Just push as close to the edge pointing at the roof and chuck yourself over there. It worked for me first try

if you're like me and can't do that swing arm thing to save your life, it is possible to stack bricks up from the wall you have to bust through. Took quite an annoying 15-20 mins to get things in the right places, but I managed it. Of course then I fell off the outside of the church trying to climb up it and gave up after an hour. https://www.trueachievements.com/gamescreenshot.aspx?gsid=30...

I did the brick stacking also... it took an engineering degree but I finally got it... the climb up the tower was fun but doable with care

Came so close twice getting this but gave up, is it easier in co-op? If I can find someone to do it with? Thats probably harder than the achievement itself.

For people who read the original thread and assume this is too much of a pain to do it really isn't. This is a 5 minute achievement.

Did a quick read and I think there is an even easier way than has been stated in this thread. After catapulting like normal over the first wall move the cart forward like you do to get to the lanterns. Climb up then get on the highest point closest to the church and jump to the ledge. Go left along the edge to get onto the rooftop. From there it is exactly like the OP. Honestly the hardest part of this achievement is to get the shepherds hook over the zip line. Really annoying. If it helps anyone I found the best way to do it is to prop it up on the wall of the tower so it dangles over. This rotates the hook to point down. This positions the hook in the correct orientation.

I struggled a lot with the wall climbing but found you can catapult yourself to the church bell (same as where you ring the bell with the catapult and a rock), then I jumped across to the church roof pretty easily.

As a whole the achievement still took me a good 30mins just due to the awkwardness of the game for me, trying to get the hook onto the roof and then hook the line were the longest parts for me.

Definitely give this a few tries when you first beat castle/after getting the speedrun achievement. It will take some 'mastery' of the game to understand your movements when climbing in such narrow sections. Go into this with a mindset of not getting this on your first try, as you will fall or the hook will act up, or something that will be soul crushing.

My first revisit to Castle and going for this, I made my way up reasonably fine, but dropped the hook twice and fell off the tower after 20 mins of struggle. I was sick of it and thought I'd never get this.

But now, after acquiring most of the base 1000g and tackling some DLC, I made my second try at this achievement and got it first try without a single fall or nothing. So, bottom line, practice, but don't expect the 20g to fall into your lap.

This one was absolutely brutal. So much anxiety but I was able to get it on my first try. I couldn't do the wall climbing in the tight spot to get on top of the church so I used the catapult that you use to hit the church bell. Good way to knock out both of those achievements at once

Your guide was very helpful. This is definitely the most tedious of the cheevos so far. This guide is number 1

Instead of the swinging exercise to get to the roof shown in the guide's video (or even the catapult method in UtG Mist's later HFF walkthrough) the method in this video is more straightforward and easier to retry if you fall.
https://youtu.be/E0U-BqTgQbI?t=16
Much as I appreciate UtG Mist's HFF work, I have to down vote this one because he committed a cardinal sin of guides: claiming that his initial solution "you'll have to jump as high as you can onto the flattest wall available and swing yourself up, arm by arm." is the way you have to do it although it's in fact the most cumbersome route and even he found a better way later.

Wow thought I wasvgoing to post, 'Well that was not as bad as I thought", catapult method to roof worked a treat, then I used Mist climbing and hook collection method, all went well but the holding physics of the hook went weird on me and he dropped the hook, I swear I did not release the trigger, so another video showed hand over hand on the rope, so what the hell, try that, her vid did not show how she reached the rope I fell trying, no idea how you can reach it, do use the hook but be CAREFUL with it, try again later, I need to let my blood pressure recede!!

Well that guide worked like a charm. I got lucky in that I made that first jump from the wall to the roof without having to swing myself up. Was quite disappointed that I didn't get the little 'Ding' notification upon completion, although it did show up as completed.

It's so sad when you complete a tricky Achievement and don't get the little 'Ding', isn't it?

I am pleased to report that I also got stuck on the house, bounced to the ground near the river (still holding the crook stick), and the achievement popped. So as long as you start the zipline properly and get that far it seems to count.

Great solution, thanks! I can't for the life me do the climbing. I just stacked a couple stones out of the wall to make some stairs to get on to the church roof. From there it's quite easy.

Fuck this achievement. In a game without difficulty they put this is there. I struggle to just get on the roof - way more than up the tower. Then first time I knock the cook back down when I go to get it. Then fall. Then the crook gets stuck on everything. Then I did it got up there, crook etc. But you can't see if the crook is on the zipline I thought it was. Fall. So get back up - the crook hasn't respawned so the time getting up is wasted.
Still not gotten it. If you fall from the roof or whatever it would be so much nicer to respawn up there. Fuck this.

The video guide by UtG Mist is great, however I could never climb the church wall using the swing method. There is, thankfully, an easier way to get on to the church roof. Climbing the tower is still a pain, but at least getting to that part should be less painful this way.

It's funny because I originally tried it that way and thought it was too hard laugh. Fantastic alternative!

Yeah, I think the key is holding on to the walls as you go round the corner, so if the guy slips for the millionth time it's not curses and broken controller time! laugh

If anyone is wondering exactly what AspiringDoctor was referring to (like I was), here's a video of it on YouTube (not mine, I don't take any credit for it):
https://youtu.be/xsDO06TtrUM

It really helped me finally get this extremely annoying achievement last night.

If there is a "proper" (I doubt there is one) way to get on the roof, it's probably the one in this video because it doesn't require any contortions and if you fall, it's easy to try again without respawning.
https://youtu.be/E0U-BqTgQbI?t=16
For myself, once I got the catapult locked into position by hanging its two front wheels over the cliff, it was the most efficient way for me to get back on the roof if I messed up.

Thank you Gilbert Prime, that video was indeed the easiest way to get on the roof.

that video is great you can also jump where you did and can climb up on the corner from there then jump to the building from the corner without having to climb the edge

I can't believe nobody has commented about the "proper" way to do this achievement. You can get up the tower with no swinging by going from the bridge to the window (The bridge you reach after doing the lantern jumps). Other than the statue in the power level, you are never required to use the "swinging method".

Edit. You can easily get onto the church roof from the first catapult after the start, drag it as far you can towards the cliff, a little bit towards the church. Load the spring and catapult yourself with just one hand on the basket and getting on ground, then release. From there it is a climb you can sometimes avoid if doing it from the second catapult as below...

After you got
Human Fall FlatFor whom the bell tollsThe For whom the bell tolls achievement in Human Fall Flat worth 66 pointsRing the castle bell in "Castle"
just drag the catapult in the tower into the corner and aim it at the church tower.
To reach it, don't get into the catapult - just hold the edge of the 'basket' with your left hand and reach for the release lever. This throws you a bit longer.

Be ready to grab at the tower when you land, I hit the top at the first try - but since you need to get the hook to the top platform I had to climb anyway - so I fell and had to catapult me there again - this time I fell down on the church roof and did the climb during which time I could have done a third try at the catapult to avoid climbing the tower at all.

Oh, and the bell toll climb to the catapult is not hard if you put the carriage between the bridge and the first house.

It took me an hour to get on the church stacking bricks. The game thanked me by never letting me face the hook in the right direction and then when I fell it left the hook at the bottom of the water. F this game.

Edit: found a vid showing a much easier way to get on the church rooftop to start the tower climb. Got the cheevo and uninstalled immediately after.

UtG Mist's video solutions are invaluable and MintSpy should be commended for finding the non-wall-walker path. However, I just dumb-lucked upon an even easier way to get on top of the church.

Use the catapult. Tips here, when grabbing the lever, keep hold and then center the camera on where you want to go. My recorded attempt was funny in that I hit the wall and bounced up, but you can land much more cleanly by angling the catapult a bit and then using the camera focus method. Good luck!

The solution posted first is a good one! But I hate doing the swing climbing to get on that first roof, and I’m lame so I fell off once I got to the very top, and lost the hook! Got all the way back up there only to find out the hook does not respawn.

SO here are the alternatives in the video link below. Shows how you can still get the achievement without the hook, and how you can use the catapults to get onto the first roof so you don’t have to swing climb.

Good luck!
