There's nothing special you have to do except collect gold in the adventure.
The gold amount unlocks content by tiers in the Gold section of your submenus (press Back to access and RB and LB to navigate). The Crucible content is the icons you see in the tabs next to the gold tier level bar. Each tier would gain you more icons and it seems that halfway is at tier 15 or so. (I'll double check and edit this later if needed)
Be greedy and go after every treasure opportunity possible, thoroughly check for gold chests and loot drops, and you should get this achievement by around Chapter 5.
I did this on Easy difficulty so I don't know if gold amounts would be different. Just be aware.
