How to unlock the Don't Give Up achievement in Hyper Light Drifter - Definitive Guide

This achievement is acquired by dying a total of 1000 times

You can track how many deaths you have by opening the achievements screen and checking the Hyper Light Drifter game tab. It's the screen that tells you what place you rank amongst your friends. To find this, double press the guide button, select your profile at the top and select achievements. From there, choose Hyper Light Drifter and it gives you ranking for:
-Game Progress
-Completion Time
-Deaths
-Towers Raised

A good place to grind this with minimal effort would be the eastern teleporter. When you arrive, make sure your health is down to its last hit and travel straight south. There are two doors on either side of the steps. Proceed into and back out of one to get the auto save to trigger. From there I placed a rubber band on the left analog stick to hold it in the downward position, making myself fall off the ledge and die repeatedly. Place your controller on a soft surface (like a couch or bed) face down. Every time your characters heart beats the controller vibrates a bit. With the controller face down it slightly moves the right analog stick and makes it register as still active. This keeps the controller from shutting off. Find something else to do for a bit and let it do its thing! Hope this helps!

I was thinking about spots to grind this out as I only have around 150 deaths at the end. There was a dungeon I found early on maybe to the east? It was dark and almost as soon as you entered it had those blocks that squash you. I'll have a look and see if I can get an exact location as it would get you killed very quickly compared to dashing off edges or by mobs.

Gotta put the unlock condition in the guide itself. That way people don't need to go into the comments to find it.

Calex, you might be thinking of that long dark dungeon in the north. From the village, the entrance to it is in the bottom right. Once inside, the trap is a little to the right, then up.

Not a bad idea, as you do respawn right in front of them.

Wow, I only had about 100 deaths after those 3 playthrough? This is gonna take a while....

Yup, took about 4 hours.

I’d like to add this achievement is ridiculous bc anyone going for all achievements is not going to pop this without grinding for it. Do better, devs.

Dying this way takes around 15 seconds. I had about 800 deaths to go for this, which roughly equates to around three and a half hours of just dying(!) in order for the achievement. I think there was a slight miscalculation just how much one would be dying naturally from completing the game... Around 100/200 deaths would probably have been a more realistic number for the average gamer completing all the other achievements.

This achievement requires you to die 1000 times. This is easiest done on NG+ as you have much less health. Start a new game, and you can plug in and rubber band your controller to continually move toward the ledge right next to the campfire. You'll respawn and walk off immediately for another death. Now you can go to work or sleep and have the achievement when you return. It will take 3-4 hours if you don't have any deaths on that file.

Alternatively, finish NG+ and you'll have a good amount of deaths from normal play, then backtrack to the starting area. The video below shows how to get there from the North warp point.
