The very first level where there is an opportunity to take down a T-Rex or Mecha-Rex is level 12, "Funderdome".
You and your teammates will be in this boxed colosseum and the only enemy you will have is the Mecha-Rex. I played this on Expert Difficulty so I imagine that it will be easier on the lower difficulties but if you have been playing exclusively on Expert so far, you will have to progress through all the levels on the lower difficulties until you can access Level 12. But this only took me a few attempts.
You have a short time to run around gathering pick-ups on the field. There are your stocks, bipods and basic things like that. But there are also some heavy weapons. Mine launchers, pulse cannon, laser, lower min-guns, upper mini guns, and what I recommend looking for, the full mini gun. It is the full rotary barrel set-up that replaces your standard gun that allows you to cycle through two weapons. The recoil on this weapon is a little rough but it will melt through the mecha-rex's armor much faster.
Many of this higher power weapons are atop the blue platforms close to the four corners of the arena.
Circle around the map sprinting constantly. Kite around the rex while it is charging at you and then focus fire on him while he is trying to gobble up your teammates.
No having tried this several times, I am pretty sure that you have to get the FINAL killing shot in order for this to count. I think this is true for the other bosses in the game. Keep trying until you get it.
If you are trying hard to complete all of the objectives of the level, here they are, but I have not succeeded in getting them all done yet. I can update once I have:
Mission Objectives:
- Complete the level without being destroyed by the Boss more than 3 times.
- Destroy the Major Evil Tube Man decoy.
- Destroy the Major Evil banner plan that flies overhead.
- Have the T-Rex destroy all 4 blue platforms - Lure him into charging at you standing behind a blue platform and then move out of the way in time for him to destroy it.
- Collect over 4000 credits from your adoring fans. - I take this to mean shooting and killing as many of the army men spectators as you can.
Optional Objectives:
- Complete the level without being destroyed by the Boss.
Here are the Medal Requirements:
Gold - Complete level without dying
Ruby - Complete the level with less than 3 deaths
Emerald - Complete the level with less than 6 deaths
Sapphire - Complete the level with 7 or greater deaths
