How to unlock the Hard Mode achievement in HyperDot - Definitive Guide
This is easily the hardest achievement in the game. I realized a trick that helped me get it much easier which I’ll explain at the bottom.
Go to free play, pick any color (I used light blue because that seemed to be the easiest to keep track of for me), go to swarmed, hit X and choose “ clear all” for modifiers, then confirm.
Took me probably 200+ attempts, but first you want to get comfortable with the level. The orange spots are almost always on the bottom half, so staying near the bottom left or bottom right helps because they won’t go up through the middle and it will be easier to retreat towards the top if you have to. For me the speeds at which shapes were shot out was random. I’d have 20 attempts where the orange and pink shapes were slow but the reds were very fast, then 10 where reds were extremely slow but the others were very fast. Just like the rest of the achievements, luck plays a huge part in getting an easy seed.
Now for the trick. I realized that pausing and unpausing makes it very easy to make the sharp weaves and dodges that are much harder in real time. So you essentially pause buffer and shoot the gap if you have to. I would play until I had a run that got to the stars (they spawn around 20 seconds in) then would do this pausing strategy, and after that it took me about 5 more tries after getting to stars. I pause, figure out exactly where I want to weave and where it is safe, hold the direction and unpause. Go to the safe zone and pause again if it’s dangerous, rinse and repeat. Doing this I got to 28+ multiple times, however playing legitimately with no pausing I couldn’t get past 25 seconds. I unlocked the achievement with 30.1 seconds.
The problem/quirk with the pause strategy is that it seems to mess with the games internal clock for shooting the enemies out. If you do it a lot early on, the stars will actually spawn much earlier than the 20 second mark. This is why I always waited until the stars spawned to start doing it, because if I tried doing it earlier the stars could spawn around 16-18 seconds, and I assume the Plus signs would spawn after but I never survived that long.
Good luck!

Not only the hardest in the game but legit one of the hardest things I have ever achieved in video games. I wish I had seen this method and attempted it before doing it last night. Took me hours lol.

Super easy using this method!

Fairly straight forward, but note that "no modifiers" means that you're disabling Player Collision (Collision: None), Power Ups (Power Ups: Off), and Inflated (Size: Normal), not that you're playing it as the game defaults.

Straightforward? My average life is 8 seconds. I managed 25 once and that was insane. Extremely not straightforward.

Managed 28.3 on Xbox One. Much easier on Windows 10 with a mouse. It took 204 attempts all in all.
