How to unlock the Been There Done That achievement in Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms - Definitive Guide
You have to unlock Modron stuff by finishing "Split the party" which can be tricky and time consuming, but it's VERY worth it, even if it takes a few days to get.
Then you set up your Modron "pipes" so they go through the "automation" node, set automation up to reset at level 50, go back out, set up your familiars to level up your player click damage, a couple speed heroes, and maybe one on player attack. I actually did this with just one familiar on leveling player attack, and a rubber band to attack on my controller.
Then you save your formation (which saves where your heroes will be placed as you recruit them, and more importantly where your familiars are placed), go back into modron automation and enable the formation loading using the new one you saved.
Now it will start a fresh run after level 50. If your favor is high enough, click damage alone should get you well past 50, and speed heroes get you there faster. Just plug your controller in with a microUSB (I use a Kindle cable just fine), put a rubber band around your controller to hold down "B" and leave it. You'll also get a good amount of gems, and tiny amounts of favor. I'm extremely close to unlocking Idle Annihilation now thanks to this, too.
Once you have unlocked at least two champions per bench slot through events, evergreen champions, and time gates, you can start the "Split the Party" quest. After completing that one-time quest, it unlocks the Modron core options for you to enable on your parties. You need to configure the Modron pipe mini-game such that it flows through the automation tube (it will make more sense once you unlock it) and then you can set the core to autoplay the free plays for you. You must have accrued enough favor within whatever campaign you're running free play on and have a minimum of two familiars unlocked as it will use one to do click damage and the other familiar to level up your click damage as you collect gold. Then you simply set it to restart once it beats level 50 (the minimum level for completing a Free Play) and rinse and repeat. Without even having to touch my console at all, it's completing one free play roughly every hour. It runs a bit slower in offline mode as it doesn't collect gold as quickly, so you can leave your Xbox on and just let it idle complete (it is an idle game after all). This way, you don't need to pop on to your Xbox to keep it cycling to the next free play run as it does it for you.
EDIT: While the Modron Automation works even if the game is offline, it appears that for Xbox to track it correctly, the game must be online with your system on. You'll still complete this faster than without Automation as this can keep launching new Free Play runs throughout the night as long as your system stays on. Also, the game doesn't care if your controller is plugged in or on once it is running; it will still make progress without logging you out.
Note: You will need to launch the game and open the Modron Core interface at least once a week to keep the automation running. They don't want players running it run forever offline. However, you likely will get your 250 Free Play runs completed within 2 weeks, if not much sooner.
This is a good idea actually and a little more help on understanding the Modron setup can be seen in this video from the devs for like the first 20 minutes of the stream.
If this is one of your last Trophies, your team should be powerful enough to make it to Area 50 in less than a half hour.
Once you have completed split the party sub quest for the micron core and unlocked it you want go to your Modron core setup screen and set up the flow to the tile that allows automation ( will make more sense when you get to the setup ).
You want to set your middle tab on the automation setup to reset at 50 and make sure its enabled ( hit RB ). Party formation doesn't matter but you need a familiar on player attack level up and the other familiar on attack. You can setup a formation by loading a level and after assigning familiars hold LT and click in your left stick to save formation.
When this is done load a freeplay and then force shut the game down ( not quick resume ). Leave it running for a maximum of 7 days ( when the Modron stops working) and load the game back up, let it finish the freeplay it is currently doing and complete the adventure, force close the game again and reload, ( not quick resume ). Start another freelance with Modron core still active and force close the game a third time. Check you achievement % after and it will have increased.
Something happened to me while playing, I went to lv 50 in free play and pressed "complete adventure"
It came up with an error message saying "failed to restart" or something similar.
After a while I would try again and get the same error message. I did this a few times and after getting the error message about 5 times I quit at the dashboard and restarted.
This time it worked and I completed it as normal. Once I checked my Achievement progress in the guide, ALL THE FAILED ATTEMPTS COUNTED AS A COMPLETE RUN! (At 15 mins a run, this possibly saves HOURS!)
So if you ever get this message I would suggest checking if it also works the same for you. Don't close the game, just keep pressing "complete adventure"
I don't know why I got the message so I can't help you get the error, but if you see it come up one day, keep this in mind!
For this trophy you need to finish 250 free-play adventures. You can play free-play levels over and over as many times as you like. There is one catch, however. You must finish at least level 50 in order for it to count towards the trophy. Each run-through takes about 30 mins or so, though you can use potions to speed things up. That said, the potions are hard to come by unless you want to spend real money on them. The good news is that there was an update not too long ago that now allows you to progress through the levels while offline. It used to be that when playing offline, the game would only allow you to keep the gold you earned. Since the update, however, it now also saves your progress, thus allowing you to move through the levels offline as well. So, you can reset the level every 30 mins or so. For me, I would reset in the morning when I woke up, and if I went home for lunch I would do so again. Then again when I got home from work as many times as I could during the evening and usually right before bed. I was averaging about 5 a day. So if you do the math, you can see this trophy will take some time. Since the game continues to run even while you are not playing it, you can play another game at the same time.
IWARNING: IF USING A SERIES X/S SYSTEM, BE AWARE OF THE QUICK RESUME FEATURE. This feature is meant to seamlessly resume the last game being played as if turning the system off and on has no effect. Quick resume has a habit of interfering with tracking/unlocking achievements. AFAIK, it is always active and cannot be deactivated. Pressing and quitting whatever game you're playing before turning your system off will disable quick resume. Keep this in mind when turning your X/S system off WHILE playing Idle Champions and you plan on playing it again the moment you turn your X/S back on. Its good to get into the habit of pressing and quitting the game before turning the system off.
TIP: here's a site that keeps track of daily locked chest codes https://incendar.com/idlechampions_codes.php You can get 2-6 electrum chests a day. This will help out a lot if just starting the Idle Champions.
TIP2: You want to keep this achievement for last. The more favor you've earned and perks bought with favor will guarantee you can automate 50 sword coast areas with no problem.
This achievement can be automated. As in completely AFK with the system turned off. Here is a step-by-step.
---------------
GOAL 1: ITEMS NEEDED FOR MODRON AUTOMATION
1 modron core - I don't remember where or when, but you should be given one within the first few 'A Grand Tour of the Sword Coast' adventures. You need this first.
place the modron core - On the screen where your team is forever marching right, above the character portraits at the bottom are a series of blue boxes with symbols in them. Go to the one that says 'parties' and press . Highlight the box that comes up titled 'Adventure Party 1'. Pressing should highlight the smaller inset box on the left. This is where the modron core goes. You want to do this as SOON AS YOU GET THE MODRON CORE The core will begin earning XP the moment you do this and will start giving you modron chests every time it levels. It only gains 1 xp for every screen cleared, so it doesn't level fast.
Automation component must be active - once placed, highlight the box with the modron in it and press . A grid should come up that looks a lot like
----------------
GOAL 2: EARN PARTY/FAMILIARS
Characters: NO additonal characters are required. You DO NOT need to complete the 'Split the Party' quest. YOU ONLY NEED 1 CHARACTER TO AUTOMATE FREE QUEST RUNS.
Familiars: You can't do this without familiars and you'll get at least 1 for free. You will be able to purchase more from the shop with gems (do not spend real $) as you play (if you can call it that) this game to earn all the other achievements.
BARE minimum: 3
recommended: 6
most efficient (if watching the game play itself): 7
the breakdown goes like this:
1 to level a character
1 to level up player attack
1/4/5 to do click damage. (4 = auto collect gold, 5 = auto collects gold + gems)
considering this will likely be your last achievement, there's a pretty good chance you'll have close to 6 from having to play the game (if you can call it that) for the other achievements.

HOW TO SET UP AUTOMATION:
Idle Champions on console made this as confusing and unintuitive as possible. Here's a step by step:
step 1:
- begin an easy ''a grand tour of the sword coast' quest that displays 'free quest' (free quests are quests that you've already completed and can play again)
step 2:
-On the battle screen (where the characters marching right) - blue boxes above the character portraits: press on 'familiars'
-set 1 familiar to 'player attack'
-set 1 familiar to 'level bruenor' (or anyone else if you prefer)
-set remaining famliars to 'player attack'
step 3:
-On the battle screen -while holding press in
-press to save your formation
step 4:
-on battle screen - blue boxes, press on parties.
-inside the 'adventure party 1' box, you want to mess around with the d-pad until you get the smaller inset box on the right highlighted and press . Its labeled 'current modron automation setup'.
- highlight box labeled 'set formation'. Press to activate it. Press and select 'a grand tour of the sword coast'. Press , select the saved party you want to use and press again.
- highlight the box labeled 'set area goal'. Press to activate it. Press on 50 (why 50? its the minimum # of areas needed for a free run to count)
(opitional - would recommend if watching the game play itself. don't know if it counts off-line)
- highlight 'set buffs' box and press . brings up your potions. Add your speed potions (all of them). Press and you need to set each potion to activate on area 1. You do that by pressing and entering 1.
I'm not sure its possible to set what quest the automation plays. I'm certain its limited to whatever quest is currently being played.
---------------------
once you've done all these steps, Idle Champions should now start automating runs.
again, achievement progress IS NOT BUGGED. You WILL gain progress with your system off and you'll see it in the achievement tracker when restarting the game. If progress wasn't added, quick resume probably screwed you over.
modron automation will disable after 7 days if you don't sign into the game, so keep that in mind.
With 1T blessings this way you can get to level 100+ in any free game. Each adventure will take you around 20-40 minutes, depending on the heroes and your level of blessing. Pressing the button can be replaced with familiars, although it is better to also use them to attack enemies. In principle, you can still put Minsk and Deekin as heroes. Around level 100, they have abilities that speed up the appearance of enemies at the level, which speeds up the passage. My maximum goal is to complete 50 levels in 15 minutes.
