This is a typo and the required amount is actually 24 Variants, based on the tracker. also the playstation trophy says 24 in the description.

I agree, a typo, however a typo in the actual game client/achievements and not a TA typo. Very odd! Maybe it means 12 more!

yes TrueAchievements scans stuff in directly from Microsoft, so i couldn't really see them making that sort of error. it's a mistake that was made when the Achievement Info was submitted by CNE. I have reported this to the devs, but i think it fell off their radar. Recently opened another ticket with them, so i think they may put in a fix for that some time soon.

This achievement requires the completion of 24 Variant Adventures.
Variant Adventures are different settings of an adventure with possible changed restrictions, objectives, requirements, and rewards. Once you complete a regular adventure the variants will unlock of varying difficulty. Also, if you are participating in events they have Variant Adventures which count towards this as well.
You should be able to complete any of the ones labeled in the green "Easy" difficulty. Also, the yellow "Fair" can be completed with a bit of difficulty. Anything other than that it will probably be too difficult.
Adventure Variants can involve reaching the same Area or higher, taking up slots in your formation, additional enemies spawning, etc. There are many different ones to look out for.
