How to unlock the Unstoppable achievement in Ikaruga - Definitive Guide
Alright, I would like to add a couple more notes on this achievement. Like Jello said, the best way to do this is by giving yourself the advantage by adding 5 lives to start with and to get an extra one for every 2 million points. I would like to say that it is actually not easier with 2 players.
First of all me and Xx SyCoMaNiA xX attempted this tonight in co-op and we had a plan for level 4 that one of us continues to suicide so the bullets stop firing and the screen is not overwhelming. THIS DOES NOT WORK. To unlock the achievement both players need to not use a continue.
Now for my guide. I am no star player at this game but all you need to know how to survive is to make sure that you can get a good chain on each level and survive when you have to. You should be able to beat level 1-3 without dying or dying at most once. Level 4 is where you may need a few lives. But if you were good at chaining level 1-3 you should have racked up at least 2 extra lives already. Level 5 is pretty much a joke if you practice it a couple of times. BUT to unlock the achievement you must also survive the triangle thing at the end of the boss. If you held up at least 3 lives to that point you should be fine.
Level 1: Alright so If you chain level 1 which is easy you will almost have 1 life. Not much info I can give here.
Level 2: Now for this level the intro is probably the hardest part. I would say keep shooting at the beginning and just survive. After the intro try to do what you can do get your chain up to over 25. The boss is pretty simple if you practice him a few times. Watch some S++ Videos because you are able to follow them on how to kill this boss.
Level 3: In my honest opinion this was the hardest level in surviving. The only way to get a chain is PRACTICE. Find a route that's good for you and keep your chain going. You should be able to chain right up to the part after the dark and light ships start flying towards you. After that it is just survival. If you cant chain it then just keep practicing on surviving because this level takes memorization. The boss is a little tough but just watch videos and practice he is not that hard.
Level 4: Now the fun part. Most of this level is impossible to chain. Once you get to the machine insane part right after the intro just focus on surviving. The bullets actually follow a pattern. Once you learn that pattern you can survive this easily. The rest of the level after that is easy. Now the boss is a little difficult because there isn't much space to fly around. The best thing to do is shoot open his hatches and then FIRE all your bombs from the outside.
Level 5: Ahh, finally the last level. The intro should get you an extra life as well. Once you get to the boss all I can say is practice. He is not that hard once you get the hang of it. Just keep replaying this level over until you can beat him with losing max 2 lives.
Bonus: And for the bonus stage the best survival advice I can give you is to stay at the bottom of the screen and carefully watch whats coming. The last like 15 seconds are the hardest but don't panic and just play it smooth!
And Voila after much ado, you can unlock this breathtaking achievement!
Hope this helps! :D

Really the only thing you can do is practice practice practice.
Change your settings to give you the most lives to start with, with extends at every 2 million points. If you're good with the first level, chaining it should get you to, or very close to an extra life.
After that, I suggest doing nothing fancy if you're not fantastic at the game. Try to be cautious and not risk your lives.
It's much easier with two playerss, just don't do anything stupid.
Spend a lot of time getting familiar with the enemy patterns on each level before attempting this

Made a video of an Unstoppable run. See video for level specific tactics. Play on easy mode, extend every 2,000,000 points and set lives to 5. Try to maximize points in the first two levels so you can build up at least one extra life by the beginning of level 3.
All i can say is Good Luck! This takes a really big amount of skill at the game and could take over a year to master the game completely. If you just dodge bullets the whole time and change to their color, this may be obtainable.
