The temple sentinel is the first boss you fight. After defeating him once, bypass the lift and dash across the gap where is says "area closed". Enter the door here to access the forbidden temple (which is another achievement).
Work your way through this area to trigger a second battle with him. Defeat him again to unlock this achievement.
As far as strategy. I used a stick and move approach. Attack once or twice and dodge away. He has a sword swing and a ground pound. As his health gets lower he also can cover the floor in fire. Try to run to a safe area when he does this. He will also ascend into the air and try to land on you for big damage. You will notice a white circle marker around you when he's about to land. When you see the circle, dash away.
I tried to save my spells/gunshots/etc for when his health is lower and he starts using those extra attacks.
