How to unlock the Trapping Expert achievement in Impact Winter - Definitive Guide
Having recently played this game, just trapping these 7 animals in one game and nothing else (that also includes any other playthroughs) is what popped the achievement for me in the order as follows :
Rat - using rat trap and raw meat scraps
Wolf - using conibear trap and raw meat
Bobcat - using conibear trap and raw meat (better to use Bobcat Bait)
Hare - using snare trap and mixed nuts
Coyote - using conibear trap and Coyote Bait
Deer - using jaw trap and Deer Bait
Bear - using bear trap and Bear Bait
The achievement popped right after I caught the bear. I did not trap any other animals.

Thanks for the guide, it's the only one not guessing around. But unfortunately, this achievement is just not popping. :/

it's hard to actually know which animals are specifically required, as i know some are not. here is the list of animals i trapped and locations i got them:
most likely required:
wolf: st. clarence park snowcave - conibear trap - wolf bait
deer: in front of church - jaw trap - deer bait
hare (rabbit): in front of church - snare trap - mixed nuts
rat: animal cave south of the church (blane's storyline) - rat trap - mixed nuts
moose: north plateau - advanced jaw trap - meat scraps
bear: bear cave (blane's storyline) - bear trap (available after jaw trap & advanced jaw trap made) - tuna can
most likely not required:
coyote: in front of church - snare trap - mixed nuts
squirrel: paxton street snowcave - snare trap - mixed nuts
skunk: sunny inn snowcave - snare trap - banana chips
chipmunk: north plateau - snare trap - meat (raw)
stag: second type of deer (prob not needed)
bobcat: not needed
muskrat: not needed
lynx: not needed
*north plateau = mountains to the north which require climbing gloves.
big thanks to KiIlIionaire for helpful information about how to achieve this. large animals where walking to my jaw traps and just standing there, not dying. turns out you need different traps. caught my moose by leaving an advanced jaw trap in the white bear cave and coming back. as for the bear, even with a bear trap i had to keep coaxing him back and forth over it until it took and the achievement popped. you only need one bear. i used the white bear from blane's storyline.

I completed Blane's questline and trapped a few more animals to get this.
This is the list of exactly what I caught to get the trophy but I think you can get something else besides the bobcat or may not need it at all. I'm pretty sure you need all the quest animals, though.
Rat: Caught 4 using rat traps and the various small food items left in the cave Blane sends you to during his quest.
Hare: Caught 2 using snare traps right in front of the church using canned vegetables once and mixed nuts the other time.
Bobcat: Caught in front of the church using a pit trap with raw meat as bait.
Coyote: Caught in front of the church using a conibear trap and coyote bait.
Wolf: Caught during Blane's quest using a conibear trap and wolf bait.
Deer: Caught in front of church using jaw trap and deer bait.
Bear: Caught during Blane's quest using the bear trap in his locker at his gym (he gives you the key for) using bear bait.

After trying, and failing, to get this on one of my playthroughs, I tried again on a fresh one. The requirements are a lot simpler than it appears. You need an ultra-small, small, medium, and large sized animal.
My original playthrough, I set traps and went off to do other things. I got all the animals (rat, squirrel, chipmunk, hare, muskrat, wolf, coyote, bobcat, deer, stag, moose, white bear from Blane's story, and skunk) failing only to acquire the lynx and a regular bear. I did not get the achievement despite getting multiple animals of each trapped (excepting the white bear since there's only one).
I tried again on a fresh playthrough. This time, I made sure to see the trapping occur. On a successful trap, you get a notification of +100 RP and may or may not have your trap break. The breaks are irrelevant.
Follow Blane's story. When told, get the following as part of Blane's storyline:
Rat - Rat Trap w/ Meat Scrap (Raw)
Wolf - Conibear Trap w/ Meat (Raw) or Wolf Bait
After getting these two, I decided to trap a Hare by the Church to get a Small-sized classification animal. Walk slowly around the church till you see a rabbit hole and a rabbit. Carefully approach and place your trap.
Hare - Snare Trap w/ Canned Vegetables
Wait for the rabbit to go into the trap. Don't leave till he does and you get the +100RP.
Return to Blane's story. Go to his Gym to get the Bear Trap and take along either a Meat (Raw), Bear Bait, or Canned Tuna. Go to the Cave with the white bear. Sneak by the bear, place and bait the trap. Wait for him to go into it and when he does, you should get the achievement.
No need to trap moose, deer, coyotes, or anything else. Hope this helps!

My trophy dropped after I caught it in traps:
- a rat,
- a rabbit,
- wolf,
- bear and
- deer
Update 2024: A friend was playing through the game and said that he got the trophy after using TRAPS of all kinds.

The trophy is glitchy.
I have already completed the game five times, having caught all the animals indicated in the hint above (and even more), the trophy does not fall. It confuses me that there are two types of bait for lynx - in all my time I only came across a red lynx, perhaps for a trophy I need a second one.

Coyotes, which can easily be confused with wolves, do not count.
