There isn't much difference between normal and expert mode, only difference is you will restart game if you die.
Just use same strategy as normal, keeping the food, drink and fuel items topped up.
Ration out the food and drink to keep the supplies spread out, less supplies in storage, less items can be robbed by scavengers.
