How to unlock the Bookman achievement in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle - Definitive Guide

There are 53 abilities to unlock by spending adventure points. You will need a lot (≈25,000) of **adventure points** to unlock these, but I finished the game with a spare 6300 points, so it's not too tight (unlike money).

The better method to finding their skill (ability) books requires you to buy or find each area's Map, Notes, and Books Exploration guides. You may have to progress the fieldwork or storyline in the area to make the guides available to purchase. I would strongly recommend having and using the alternative disguises (and their keys) for Indy to allow you to search with less conflict.

There are three books that first appear in areas you will not be able to revisit, but they will be relocated elsewhere and discoverable: Cutman II (found initially during the airship transition to Gizeh and relocated to overworld Gizeh), and Slug Boy II and Fast Hands (both found initially in the Sukhothai "Trouble in Paradise" hotel area and relocated to the Sukhothai overworld).

When you buy the area's Exploration Books guide, a quest called "A World of Knowledge" will appear and direct you to the skill books as well as the other merchant books. Merchants sell guides specific to the main three locations: Vatican, Gizeh and Sukhothai.
Vatican Books - sold at the Vatican Post office
Gizeh Books - sold by a vendor in Gizeh Village
Sukhothai Books- sold at Tongdang's Hut
The medical vendor in each of these three areas will trade Medicine Bottles for 6 skill books; the boxing areas will each sell 2 skill books. These will still need to be unlocked with adventure points after receiving them.

There are also Exploration guides/books found for the other (smaller content) areas: Marshall College, Kummetz(Himalayas), Shanghai, and Iraq(Ziggurat). These guides will lead to collectibles for those areas.
Marshall College Guide - found in Vatican
Kummetz Guide - found in Sukhothai
Shanghai Guide - found in Sukhothai
Ziggurat Guide - found in Iraq

In addition, there are 25 Exploration books and maps (Artifacts, Notes, Mysteries, Frequencies, Relics) which are either found or purchasable and do NOT require Adventure points to unlock.

**Adventure points will mostly be obtained by the adventure storyline, fieldwork, discoveries, mysteries, etc. Smaller amounts of adventure points can be earned by burning the Propaganda posters or aiding NPCs having conversations relating a need (e.g., a photo or basket of fruit) and having this in your inventory or finding it in the near vicinity allows you to interact with them (e.g., offering a photo or placing the basket on a table).

(This is still an early guide. Please message me with corrections or details.)

Thanks, the one I was missing was Button Man II as it's available on Kummetz, but all the game trackers don't tell you it exists.

*WARNING*. Possible achievement brick. I messed up the elephant puzzle and went back to an earlier save to reset the puzzle. Now the first elephant statue is now unselectable. I've tired loading a cloud save and restarting my console and the statue is still unselectable.

Is that the same as the Save Rollback from the launch Game Slots? The save function/mechanic seems archaic and makes the game irritating.

I found leaving the areas for a while resets the puzzles.

The Elephant in the Room puzzle does provide the Sukhothai Relics Map, but that map isn't necessary for the Bookman achievement.

Sorry for your problem, but that isn't relative to this achievement.

@DURDENS WRATH

Luckily, those NPC bonus quests are not necessary and only amount to a couple dozen adventure points. If you are referencing the village elder and son/pupil discussing his missing print, I was never able to locate it either. The pistol was in a chest or safe, but I don't recall where.

I enjoyed stumbling on them randomly. There was a paintbrush and in the Vatican I never found a home for, as well as being unable to turn in the missing letters at the Post Office that the letter carrier bemoans.

LEV1NT0FU is referring to the 'Sukhothai Relics' Exploration book, which can only be obtained inside the Elephant Temple. However, none of the Exploration books are required for this 'Bookman🏆' achi (nor are the comics). This achi is just for acquiring all Adventure (ability) books and then using Adventure Points (XP) to unlock all the abilities (I have this achi, but haven't got Shanghai Guide, or Ziggurat Guide).

Which boxing area? If you have more money in another map/area, have you revisited there to buy it? (In Sukhothai especially you should have excess funds.)

The guide already makes those points but needs to be read if someone needs help with solutions.

I had also given him those same points in response to his first (identical) post before he spammed the misinfo again. There are too many people misusing the achievement guides/solutions instead of posting in the forum.

Do you have any other feedback?

@ScaryYapper boxing arena books are different, for instance it's Hardboiled I in Vatican and Hardboiled II in Gizeh. Money does not carry over from one location to another so you need to grind money in the same location to unlock them.

I now have like 5 purchasable books left in the Vatican, one of which requiring money (boxing), thanks!

If you are running short with the money to buy the last book from the boxing areas, check the red X markers on your map (Gizeh and Sukhothai). Those markers appear after you deliver all 4 radio frequencies for that specific map. I am not sure if the game tells you (most likely I missed) but there is a treasure chest on those markers which contains 125$ each. I needed ~450$ for my last book and getting the money from those boxes probably saved me huge amount of time rather than checking every corner of the enemy bases.

I'm stuck at 22/23 in the Vatican. I compaired notes with multiple guides, and it looks like I'm fucked for this achievement. Ugh...

I also have two phantom book icons on the map that don't match the map I found.

Edit: I do have four books from the pharmacy I haven't purchased, but something tells me none of those count for the achievement.

Edit 2: Ok, so I exited the game, and when I came back, it's now registering as complete. Awesome!

Is there an easy way to find money? I can't find anymore in the Vatican and need the other books (to aide with other achievements) and the ones in the Arena.

Edit: Ok, so from what I can tell, there's no new game plus, money doesn't regenerate, and you can't fight in the Underground endlessly. I did find 200 left in the main camp at least.

Main problem for this will be money. You 100% should be looting every area. Small lockboxes can be broken open with small weapons or back of your gun.

I had well over 1,000 adventure points remaining after getting all books & still have some more notes to gather

I am confused. I have found every medicine bottle in the game and I do not have enough to buy all the books from the doctors…

I have 15 from The Vatican, 25 from Giza and 20 from Sukhothai. I am confused.

There are forty-four books to find in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and you will need to get them all in order to unlock this achievement. The easiest way to find them all is to purchase the Books guide in each region. You can get this from the market in Gizeh; the post office in Vatican City; and the village store in Sukhothai.
