How to unlock the Hard Finish achievement in InFamous - Definitive Guide
Ive read numerous boards indicating that in order for this trophy to pop correctly, starting a game, then switching to hard will not work. What needs to be done is switch the game to hard, save, start a new game then it will automatically be on hard mode...
however...
When I first started the game I went to options then switched difficulty to hard. Played through the game and beat the game today. Fought the boss, let the credits roll, watched the after credits movie, ( i didnt push any buttons btw) then it brought me back to Empire City with the "congratulations" message indicating that i can finish side missions, get some extra trophies etc. After I pushed the X button to continue about 5 seconds later the Hard Finish trophy popped up. So just to let everyone know that it does work this way.
Hope this helps.
Do this on your good playthrough for starters. This isn't too much harder than medium or easy but a few parts are difficult:
Escorting the Bus:
Once you "Roadkill" you should jump off of the bus and kill enemies quickly. This will make them focus on you and not the bus and make it easier to aim at them. Jump back up when enemies are all gone or when you need quick electricity.
The First Time You Loose Electricity:
This is difficult because of the sheer mass of enemies. The best route is to jump from building to building on the left side of where you start from. There are not as many enemies and more buildings this way. Also, you should focus on getting to the manhole you have to go down ASAP, once you activate it you can't be killed and will move on.
The Prison Fight:
Again, having to kill tons of enemies is always fun but a bit challenging. Use the pads of infinite electricity as much as you can, spam grenades and the megawatt hammer for quick kills. If you can try to pick a few enemies off as they run in with precision mode. When you get to the point where the giant golem like conduits come to attack you, spam megawatt hammer shots at them. This will ensure that they go down quickly. If they destroy your pad, there are two more around the area so go to one of them and resume your hammer spamming. Grenades are good if they get too close.
General Tips:
+ Drain electricity whenever possible if hurt or not full. If you need to zap some metal with your bolt and then drain that.
+ Upgrade Damage Resistance ASAP.
+ Upgrade Grenades and Megawatt Hammer as soon as possible, only upgrade shockwave to level 1, the same goes for your regular bolt
+ Use the polarity wall often and upgrade only once
+ Buy the upgrade for faster draining and if you have spare xp buy the induction yield
+ Don't be afraid to take cover and try to save enemies for leeching, they may save you in the middle of a battle
To kill him faster, I advise you to use L1+R2. This is an ability that is given for completing villainous missions.
Kesler performs such attacks.
Shock wave - just like ours. but it happens that it is very difficult to dodge it, use Left/Right + O.
Immediately after the shock wave there is another wave that spreads across the entire battlefield. It can be avoided by jumping with atnigrav. But sometimes the ghosts of Kesler appear with such a wave - they die quite quickly, but if they reach you, about a third of your HP will be removed.
The next ability is lightning. A blue aura seems to appear near the kesler, which means he will now shoot lightning - easily reflected by the shield. He uses 3 lightning bolts in a row and if they don’t damage you, he falls for about 5 seconds, when he is actually attacked without risk to himself
Another “mine” ability throws out 3 mines that explode when approached - easily destroyed by any ranged attack.
The last ability is to summon 3 flying robot heads (Doom rules). When he calls them, Kesler does not seem to pose a threat. Only teleports. You can safely take on robots (2 can be destroyed during the summoning). If you attack Kesler, he will answer you. but it will be more difficult to play because robots will launch grenades. and they can ruin your plans.
The murder of Kesler itself is divided into 3 parts. The first time we just fight, defend ourselves from his attacks. and we contribute about a quarter of his life. A screen appears where we need to move our hand to Kesler’s head - we just can’t do it. Zeke saves us. - this is the first "checkpoint"
The second time everything is the same, only we take away half of his life. We reach checkpoint 2
Part 3 - Kesler begins to call robots. Here we try to quickly deal with the robots and go straight to Kesler. After destroying the robots, Kesler slows down a bit.
It gets to where we need to move the hand - and we all watch the credits and get an achievement
Be careful when leaving the battlefield. Kesler will throw you onto the ledge in the middle of the arena and throw bombs, from which you are unlikely to have time to fly away, due to the fact that Cole takes a very long time to get up. On the other hand, on this ledge you are not harmed by the aforementioned shock wave traveling across the entire battlefield.
1. Try not to get into the resin, it causes hallucinations, camera rotation and short-term (before reaching a solid surface) loss of abilities.
2. It’s easy to escape from a fiery wave by jumping or rolling. Bombs thrown at Cole by strange sprouts can be repelled by a “shock wave”. And Sasha herself will be sobered up by lightning plus electric grenades.
3. The same “wave” works well against armed phantoms, but it’s easier to target Sasha and hit her with lightning so that the projections disappear.
Battle with Alden
1. Alden's monster has all the abilities of a regular golem, but it is much stronger and more dangerous. The best techniques are the "megawatt hammer" and (optional) lightning aimed at the monster's head. Electrical panels are placed at the corners of the platform; don’t forget to recharge.
2. The first technique that Alden will use is to throw ordinary stones, roll away from them and respond with your own attacks. Then fireballs will follow, you can fight them off with a “shock wave” or simply dodge them, but make sure that you always have access to recharge. Such projectiles cause a short-lived flame.
3. Alden is also not shy about shooting from a “machine gun” - small fireballs can finish off Cole very quickly. This problem can be easily dealt with by alternating jumps and rolls (in different directions). A “target reticle” or a “shock wave” will help against mechanical scorpions.
4. When the golem's head armor opens slightly, shoot lightning at Alden.
Battle with Kessler
1. One of the most effective abilities in a fight with Kessler is the “megawatt hammer”. When the enemy releases three or four electric waves in a row and gets tired, hit him with the hammer. The “heroic” option is preferable, because... it can be accelerated by pressing and land more hits before Kessler teleports away. A regular zipper also helps.
2. When Kessler summons robots, try to kill them right away before they start moving. It takes two or three lightning bolts to destroy droids.
3. Kessler uses teleportation to get close and hit with a telekinetic blast. When he begins to quickly move towards you, jump to the side (left/right + ").
4. The seismic waves that Kessler emits can be easily avoided using “anti-gravity”. Jump and wait in the air until the wave passes. Sometimes during such attacks, giant projections of Kessler appear. If they get close to Cole, the hero (on the highest difficulty level) will die immediately. Destroy projections with regular lightning or a "shock wave".
